Hey everyone. I wanted to clarify the situation regarding the recent order confirmation email of Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered that was sent to owners of the original version of the game.

While the message incorrectly stated that you purchased a copy of Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered, it was in fact a visual bug on our side that in no way affected your account or any of your payment options. The order was a gift and the game was added to your GOG library free of charge.

While the Team is currently working on a fix, the Remastered version of the game may disappear from your library for a couple of hours, but I guarantee it will reappear once we resolve it.

We’re really sorry about the confusion, and will do our best to avoid such situations in the future. Thank you for your understanding.

I almost did too. lmao.
Thank you gog!

It's kind of unbelievable in the 21th century, you receive a mail of apology for giving you a 10$ for free remastered version of a game you purchased many years ago !

We are pretty lucky for this generosity of yours, and despite it may be confusing you should not really apologize :)

I was also a bit surprised to see this order, and at the same time I was like... come one who else than me would order this game on this website on my gog account?

Thanks for the upgraded edition!

To be fair, the apology isn't for giving the free game, thats always appreciated, but when you suddenly get an email stating you bought something and a price for it, people will of course react and think their account is compromised or similar, causing unwarranted fear and confusion, and having to check bank accounts and change passwords when there was no direct need to, that's what the apology is for.

In the 21st century, security, especially online, is just needed more and more, so to experience a legitimate "thanks for your $xx.xx purchase" email for something you have not bought is probably one of the biggest indicators that something might be going on with your accounts.

But all in all, no real damage done, and it might even have been a wakeup call for people to change passwords and check 2fa etc. And i suspect gog will make sure it won't happen again next time they give a free upgrade
Ooooh ok, I was about to sh*t a brick when I read the email! XD

Thanks for the heads up as well as the free upgrade, much appreciated!
Thank you for a free upgrade. I was confused at first too but as I have 2fa and a safe email address associated with the account, I suspected what it was all about. Thx again, also for the explanation.
I did receive the upgrade. It shows up as a separate item in my library. Also the store page does not indicate that I own the game and I still see the "Add to cart" button.

This would be the reason myself and my friends get so nervous about purchasing games on GOG these days. Seems every time there's a change to a game (remastered, gold edition, some DLC, etc) the older version is no longer visible unless we specifically look for it in our library, the store page will show we don't own it - same copies but must get different identifiers. As a competitionist it's so easy to purchase games I already own simply because the store version and our other owned version show as different.

Anyways, I need to go change my undies after this bit of excitement.

I kind of agree. As much as love GOG, it's really hard to advocate for it, since it has the worst purchasing experience, wishlist management, no effort in Linux department, no Android app, etc. Of all the PC stores, GOG is the most obtuse in terms of accessibility.
It's in my account but the product page says that I don't own it.
