macbook m1 pro 2021, macos monterey 12.1

installer runs as normal gog installers do, except the step where other installers ask me where to put the game is skipped and it shows the summary "The installation failed. The Installer encountered an error that causes the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

i can't find relevant log entries.

in the same session i could install two other gog games without issues.

I keep having this issue regardless how many times I have tried to re-download it. I am using the latest version available. I have looked everywhere for some information and nothing. All I can tell is it is supposed to work.

Any help would be welcomed.
