So I've got the game to run fine but it's getting stretched on my wide-screen monitor, I tried setting it to window in the config program but it didn't do anything.

Is there any way to get it running either in 4:3 (I don't mind windowed or with black bars at the side) or in proper wide screen resolution?

There should be a function in the gpu drivers, something like keep aspect ratio.

Like in the Nvidia Control Panel?

Or do you mean somewhere else?

EDIT: Also Im running from an install made from an image of my game disc (PC doesnt have a DVD drive), would it make any difference using the GOG version?

Use the Gog version, the poster above you was talking about making the change in the dxwrapper that comes with the GOG version
