Back in the days, there was an extra character (Esteban, if my memory serves me right) you got as a backer of the original kickstarter,
any chance we can play that character now?

I understand it was a backer's bonus tier thingy, I'm don't want need for free, but it was years ago and I'm a completionist interested in the extra lines of dialogue he has to offer...

Unfortunately they never opened Esteban up for non-backers. While it is possible to mod the game so you can recruit him, there's some extra protection built in so that he disappears every time you go to camp. It's possible to bring him back the next day with console commands, but it's a huge pain in the ass.

Oh well, I understand that they want to give the backers some premium content. That's their right to do, I never knew this game existed, I probably backed it myself.

I just think it would add some great replay value to have Esteban recruitable by now. The game has been out for a while, they just published the "sequel" (if one wants to call it like that) and it's not that I want it for free. At some point in time it doesn't make sense to block content away.

I agree completely! Even if they made it an extra you have to pay for, that would still be better than locking content down.

At least they didn't do this for Vikings from what I can gather - and the Esteban-like character in that is definitely recruitable for everyone.
