Not sure what's going on.
The game runs fine otherwise.
And I have been to the research screen before. Made several items.
Then all of a sudden... it started CTDing whenever I hit it.
And I can still do everything else.
World map
Minion management
etc.
Any ideas?

Yeah I have autosave turned off now.
The editing of the save file thing ... I couldn't find the line items it was referencing. Not sure where that file is. Looked for it though.
I'm bummed that I had to turn off the autosave... I was using that as kinda an alert to go out and hide my minions around the world. The Agents of Justice show up about every 10 minutes.

The save files are normally found at /Evil Genius/DyanmicResources/Layouts You can open them up with notepad then use Ctrl-F to find the ResearchSubject=0.

The file you're supoosed to edit is the.lay file corresponding to that particular save.
The .lay files are in:
/evil genius/dyanmic resources/layouts
You just have to open the .lay file in question and search for the line
ResearchSubject=0
The location of the game folder itself varies according to OS.

Research bugs were fixed in version 1.01, confirmed working on both original (EU) retail and GOG versions.The game doesn't include the latest patch, looks like GOG didn't get the full package from the game's license holder. Update to version v1.01 and find a NoCD crack.

Make sure you get the EU patch for the GOG version.
