I have Thottle set to Right Stick, can a tickbox option be added to the Axis settings to lock the throttle.
What I mean is:
Push forward until throttle is where I want it then I can let go of the stick and the speed is locked until I pull back on the throttle... Currently you go forward as you hold it and stop when you don't.

We had discussions about this topic and there are mixed oppinions on this.
For example: How much does it conflict with our joystick controlls, Do we become too space-simmy, how does it affect combat etc. We really thinking about this and we listening to people wanting it(!).
I guess we are somewhat inclined to rather not do this feature... but you never know.

Hope this good enough of an answer?

Sort of...

If it is an option - a tickbox... Then people can make their own mind up.

As I've said: we are considering and discussing every feature request from you guys out there.
Regarding this one it's not simply adding a tick box, but it also touches some more fundamental mechanics (for example event driven input handling, flight model) and we are just carefully considering the implications.

Ah, of course. The game is very story driven.
Reminds me of Freelancer - Open world with solid story core. Awesome, loving it!
As far as I can remember, every space action sim that I played had a throttle setting. Wing Commander 1-x, Privateer, X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter, Star Lancer, Freelancer, Wing Commander Saga...
In some of them you could even deactivate your thrusters and activate glide ("Shelton Slide"), so it was possible to e.g. fly in the one direction and shoot in the other. I really liked that.

Please note that there is an option to toggle inertia dampeners on/off. Per default it isn't mapped to any key, but you can set it your self if you go to Settings > Input > customize controls > SPACE / ACTIONS > Toggle inertia dampeners.

Although I know what you mean, I use FA Off a lot in ED, you don't really need it in Everspace 1 or 2 due to the way the ships handle. You can easily drift and fly backwards exactly the same.
