That's not quite true. You can wait poison out, and with enough luck you will survive it. You can also remove poison with a Potion of Detox, the Divination spell Detox, or have a healer remove it.

Ok, the first village doesn't seem to sell such stuffs and I don't yet know how to learn spells.
Better just keep making those saving throws then...
Towards the beginning of the game you sometimes just need to go with the option of downing healing potions to keep yourself alive until the poison wears off. You can also brew up some Detox potions of your own if your Alchemy skill is 4+ using Spider Silk and Belladonna.
I don't think I'll go alchemy, especially with the one sheet inventory system.
One point in divination, guess that doesn't quite give anything yet?
Hoping to learn a simplex healing spell or something.

I seem to be spreading skill points all over the place, a bad idea probably.
Mostly going for strength and whacking everybody with big swords.
It may be a little late, but in the first (abandoned) village there's a magical well, that heals you. You can sit the poison out by resting in front of the well and occasionally replenishing your hp. In the next village you can buy a heal spell, so if you have at least one point in divination, you can then replenish your hp on your own. From that point on poison has never been more than a nuisance to my mage/cleric.

Yeah a little. :)
Might help someone else though.
Finished the first one and ended up kind of liking, if not loving, the game.

Started the second as well but drifted off halfway through.
Don't really know why, it wasn't any worse or anything.
I'm 6 h into the game and so far I'm liking it.

I just accepted Lilith's quest and all of a sudden a swarm of bees ganged up on me. Most difficult battle so far.
And after 20 hours I've finished the game. It was quite enjoyable. I played a spellcaster build and the only times when the game annoyed me was when monsters saved against my spells.

It was a lot of kill x monster, then rest y hours, rinse and repeat. But the sense of exploration carried the game and I'm looking forward to the second game.

BTW, I believe that if you pay Priest Michael, he can heal you. Don't know if its any cheaper then buying the potions though.

That's true, but it didn't work for me, because I was an atheist.

The message that I received, when a poltergeist tried to curse me, always cracked me up. "A curse was cast upon you, however as an atheist you find the idea absurd and suffer no effect." Splendid! :-)

Anyways, I had my own healing spell, so I rarely drank potions.

There's an emulate that gives something like plus four alchemy.

I'm still in my first play thru and at 38 hours. No spell casting makes for a tedious game :)
