I got the distinct impression from the advertising and the manual that you could pick either the light or dark side right from the beginning. The manual explicitly states this in fact. But it's not letting me play the dark side. Is my install/download faulty or do you really have to beat the light side (ugh) to play the dark campaign?

PS - I bought a physical copy of the game a few years ago before finding out it had Securom, so don't know if the gog manual is different from the original physical one.

I'm not sure, because I didn't try to play the dark campaign from the beginning. However, I seem to remember that after I finished the light campaign, a notification informed me that the dark campaign was unlocked. So, I think you have to complete the light campaign before you can play the dark campaign.

That is just as well, because the dark campaign is more difficult than the light campaign. Playing the light campaign first is good practice, if nothing else.
I finished the Light campaign earlier this year, but lost the saved game. How can I unlock the Dark campaign without playing the Light campaign through again?

I think the game gave me an unlock code after completing the Light campaign, but Im not sure. I sure as hell didn't write it down!
If you want I could see if I still have my save file and toss it to you I've personally only done a couple missions into the Dark Campaign (some online games distracted me and I stopped playing) and of course you can replay them for your own sake anyways.

If you don't feel like going back through the light side.
It was the xbox version where you had to play the light campaign to unlock the dark campaign. PC version the dark campaign is unlocked from the start.

Nope, not true, I got the pc version from GOG & the same holds for the pc version--will NOT let me play dark til I finish the light.
I think you have to put IAMEVIL as your profile name IIRC.

You know, I just got back in to the game and you are right. I just seem to remember the pc version having it unlocked at the start.

Maybe it was because when I got the xbox version I was surprised about unlocking the dark side in the first place. Like it was a secret. But when the PC version came out, it marketed itself to having 2 campaigns.

But that was years ago :P Sorry for the bad information everyone.

Very weird. I also read the same thing in reviews, that pretty much the biggest change in the PC version was that you can instantly play the "dark side". Then I got Enclave from a Polish magazine and guess what - the campaign was locked. Years later I tried the GOG version and both campaigns were instantly unlocked while some users seem to say that the dark campaign is locked by default in the GOG version. Seriously, what's up with that game?
After getting this off gog and reading this thread, I spent Saturday(this) morning digging through boxes in my basement to find my old retail copy of Enclave. So I installed it on my sons laptop with Windows 8, and shot a quick super crappy video showing right after installing the game that you can select either campaign out of the gate. Youtube video
Argh, this is not working.

Anyone has a save game to share?
I can also confirm that the PC retail edition has both campaigns unlocked from the beginning, but I haven't checked the newer releases.

As mentioned above, you should be able to enter the profile name 'IAMEVIL', to unlock the dark campaign from the start as well. If for some reason that doesn't work, you can try opening the 'options.cfg' in your main Enclave directory using a text editor, and either changing/adding the following line:
CAMPAIGN_DARKCAMPAIGNUNLOCKED=1

Hey, that worked! Thanks a lot!
I tried all of these and nothing seemed to work. It's not a big deal because I was planning on playing throught the Light first anyway but now I'm worried about doing that and then losing my save and having to go all the way back just to play the Dark. Any more suggestions? Could I be doing the 'options change' wrong? I thought I did it correctly but I'm not so bright with some of this stuff. :P
