Definetly an underated hidden gem.
If you have ever played Hexen, you'll like this medieval fps game ! The gameplay is quick and addictive !
You can play in a subjective view or first person. I definetly recommand the last one.
2 sides are available (light or dark) with different scenarios (linear).
The dark side being harder and for experienced player.
The replay value is quite good as you'll unblock a lot of different characters (but limited to 4 main different types : warrior, bower, engineer, wizard).
I see two main weaknesses : 1) the colision management present some weaknesses and it becomes boring at some points. 2) combos are very limited for such a game.
medieval fps? what?
it's nothing like Hexen and it's not an fps, also Hexen had an official sequel that's a very, very good game :P
I think Baltus means Heretic II which isn't a million miles away from Enclave in gameplay.

Actually there are 6 characters on each side:
Knight, Huntress, Druid, Halfling, Engineer and Wizard.
That's exactly what he meant, Heretic II is very similar to Enclave. Great game as well. But definitely not Hexen. Heretic II, I'd like to see GOG knock that one out too.

I agree Enclave is a pretty kick ass game with decent replay value at different difficulty settings and two campaigns to play through as well as unlockable characters after you beat each side.
Heretic 2 wasn't that bad but nothing compared to Heretic, and the first Heretic is still better than both his sequel and Enclave

I disagree - I found Heretic 2 to be much better than the first one. Maybe not as good as Hexen 1, but definitely better than Heretic 1 and Hexen 2.
And any of these games is better than Enclave in my eyes :P.
that's matter of tastes, personally I loved more Hexen II and Hexen, then Heretic 1, but maybe just because it was the first of his king, I've never played an fps with that king of twisted fantasy atmosphere before it, and the last one Heretic 2, it was the newer one but it wasn't as good as Hexen II, that was AWESOME, especially because like Quake 1 (the engine was the same), you could play the single player episodes it in co-op with another friend.
Enclave is just another matter, even if newer it's not comparable with any of these cult games.
It's not a bad game per se, but it's nothing I'd play these days, as the graphics is now dated and it never shined for gameplay\ ai \ combat system.
I'd rather play Die by the Sword over this one
Heretic II, that's the one where Corvus gets that upgradeable poleaxe, yeah? I had trouble with that one on account of the bad "mantling" detection. Like, grabbing onto a ledge and pulling yourself up, sometimes it took a few tries to find the right spot. I'll tell you though, it's nice the way they kept the Polymorph/Chicken spell in.
