Hi everybody, I'm from Italy.

I've got a win 8.1 64 bit, and in the beginning EE just wouldn't play. installation was okay, but game got stuck after less then a minute.

Then I came on this page and found some great tips which made me able to at least play the game, but it is such an awful game! It has geometric black shapes and other strange shapes coming all the time on the screen, and it makes it a lot bad. also when I click for example on a barrack I can't see units to click onto, I can only build them with the shortcut keys on the keyboard (like A for sentinel, F for mortar and so on...) and alltogather the game itself is quite hard to play this way..

So far this is what Ive done:

I went on Ingame, Ive selected Game Options and:
+ Selected the right graphic card (instead of "primary graphic driver" or something like that) (like berger.an suggested)

tried also to
+ set 3D Aceleration from Direct 3D to Direct 3D Hardware TnL (like AlfalfaMale75 suggested) but the switch just wont succeed

+ set game compatibility on win xp service pack 3 at first, now its on win 8..

and don't know what resolution to choose (like joelmarkelov suggested)

What do you suggest? Id really love to play with this great game as I used to do on my old win xp ..
Thanks nate31891 works perfectly now.

Download the 3D-Analyze

Press select : got to C:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\Games\Empire Earth Gold\Empire Earth
and select Empire Earth.exe

Set the small boxs on : Force max. Pixel shader version 1.1 and save the batch file!

Press the run bottum and done. Works like a sharm.
does anybody know if there will be an update to allow windows 10 to be used??
For anyone affected by recent freezing, check your properties for both the original game and the expansion. Apparently, there is something wrong with some of the compatibility mode options causing freezing.

I turned them all off just to be safe and it started working again. No more freeze-ups on the menu.

And yes, this was on Windows 10.

I increased my resolution from 800x600 that I had been using on Windows 7. Now I can play and it looks better.
I've been having the same freezing problem. But I was able to fix it by right clicking and going into properties, then going to the compatibility tab and switching it to Windows 8 and the game ran fine. But I'm also having problems with Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest. When I try to open the game, it within seconds it stops responding. Does anyone have a solution? I'll really appreciate it.

nate31891: After 8 LONG days of cursing up a storm, pulling my hair out, and plain getting aggravated I finally have a solution!

For those having the freeze issue, DON'T USE NEOEE!

If you did, uninstall EE and AOC.

Reinstall clean without NEOEE.

go and get the 3d analyzer here. (Copy/Paste links, GOG wont let me post them)

3dfxzone.it/dir/tools/3d_analyze/download/ (find Size: 874KB Status: Not Archived and click the "save" icon).

Install it, run it as admin AND win 7 compatibility.

Select EE-AOC.exe or EE.exe and click on the little white box that is next to force max. Pixel shader version 1.1.

Save this setup as a batch file.

Run the exe in 3d Analyzer, and it works perfectly fine.

For reuse, run the batch file you saved. Otherwise, the exe will freeze.

Im running the game without V-sync. Also don't change the primary driver option. It will CTD.

The game will automatically choose it after you start it the second time.

If this didn't work,

This didn't work for me on AoC. It still freezes after a few seconds.
I am having the exact same problem. I thought it was something wrong with my graphics card from a recent update. Under compadibility mode, I could make it all the way to starting a game. Then I would freeze as soon as a game started. I couldn't exit out of anything; I had to hard reset. I turned off compadibility, and now it freezes on attempting a run...

I'm going to go back to playing Dawn of the Modern World.
Doesn't work for me either. I tried nate31891's solution but I get the message "error while injecting dll into target process" in 3D-Analyze

Ps: Fixed. I forgot to run 3D analyze as Administrator.

Try to use the NeoEE patch. It might help to fix the freeze.
Just solved the same issue under Windows 10 using the GOG version of Empire Earth Gold. Playing EE-AOC. I selected the other graphics option AND I disabled all the ambient lighting/special effects & etc and it ran for 2 hrs w/o/ any problem.

Even tho the hardware chars of my new MSI Ghost 60 laptop well exceed the old game requirements, there's one of the special effect graphics that Windows 10 has problems with.
For me, fixing this problem required both nate31891's fix and AlfalfaMale75's suggestion of switching 3D acceleration.

I have a 740m as well and was able to play the version I downloaded from the GOG site. For some reason the GOG galaxy version would not run properly.
