Thanks for that response, I have windows 8 64 bit and it wont work I think I have read others have said the same.
So I was hoping gog would make a patch to fix this.

Any other word on this? I'm struggling to play and even when I use the fix above (which doesn't work with the expansion for me), I can't set it to my laptops max resolution.

I can't play on my Microsoft Surface either, only 2 of the 5 games that I bought on gog.com I can actually play. My problem with EE is that the menu screen is like 1/4 of the size it needs to be and the mouse doesn't work. I tried a different resolution for both the game and my computer, but nothing. No idea why there isn't more documentation on what must be one of the more popular titles here at gog.com

Yep my game wont work either Windows 8, tried everything. Comp Mode: No Go; Admin rights: nada :(

sooo any hopes of this being addressed? Similar problems here as to those above and this game is really the only reason I signed up for GOG

There have been a few workarounds but they are a lot of faffing about and still do not let me play the expansion pack.

I agree with you simonono G.O.G. please fix this put out a patch or some fix would be much appreciated!

To get it work now there is simple solution. Turn your screen resolution to 1024x768 and run the game .

Hey all, I found this (but can't seem to find the link)-

Create a new file in Notepad and put the following in it:

taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe
EE2.exe
Start explorer.exe

Then save the file as EE2.bat (Or EE2x.bat for the expansion) and save it in the main EE2 folder where the application is. Use that BAT file to launch the game from now on, you can create a shortcut to it and put that on your desktop.

The problem seems to be the windows explorer in W8 messing with the game.

This was happening to me. I was running it on windows 8 and the game was glitchy and would freeze. You're graphics drivers are probably to new to play the game effectively. Download an older version of the drivers (I had 10.18 and switched to 9.17) the game should work perfectly after you do this and it isn't to hard to do.
