I love the first one and I just bought the second one, should I even think about the 3rd one. I have heard some very bad things about Empire Earth 3.

You shouldn't bother with the third one. I heard that it was broken on release and it shrank the factions into 3 and 6 epochs. The Maps are smaller and worst of all, it killed the whole series! That game is why there isn't any Empire Earth games anymore. (Mad-Doc went bust 3-6 months after EE3 came out.)
