Hello there.
So I've had my eyes on EE series for a long time. Played a demo long time ago, didn't quite make my mind about it. But I also played Rise of Nations. Just a few weeks ago in fact. What really bugs me with RoN is that combat feels just... too much rock-paper-scissors. Now don't get me wrong, I think rps is a nice mechanic, but I felt in RoN they took it a bit too far. It never felt to me like I'm playing a tactical game but instead I'm just frantically trying to match my opponents counters with my counter-counters that get countered with his ad-infinitium. Funny for a while, but get's tiresome.
Anyways, why I am mentioning this is because of this questions:
1) How is the combat like in EE 1 and 2? I remember from demo there was very similar rps mechanic in place but never played it enough to compare it to RoN's.
2) Also, I've sen mentioned in one other topic on this forum that EE 2 plays very differently than EE 1. In what sense?
