When I select my native resolution 1920x1080, Nothing changes at all. I exit the game, start it up, it says that it's 1080p, yet it's clearly around 800xxxx.

Is it still in 800x600 when you start up a game? Like a campaign or whatnot? No matter the resolution you select, the menu screens will always be 800x600, you can have 1080p for everything else though

The menus are low res. The game it self runs at the chosen resolution.

Right, the menu always on low resolution. But the game will switch to your resolution.
