I've got a few more random questions if you don't mind.

1.: Do Scientists have a use? On that matter, is there a mod file where i can see what unit function (from unit.dat) does what? (EDIT: I've found the unit functions in the base game unit.dat)

2.: Can you see the planet type somewhere in-game or in a mod file?
Scientists are still a placeholder for future implementation. All unit functions are in UNIT.DAT file.
You can see planet's type by its tiles/vegetation. There are no other ways, sorry.

In my current game the AI-controlled houses are spamming Dervishes everywhere.

Checking the unit.dat, Dervishes are super-cheap (70 cred vs. 3000 cred in base game), have no tech requisites and are buildable by all ai houses (owner = 2055).

It's a bug. Thanks for reporting. It should be Rebels (13) owner. I'll fix it in the next version.
So - just trying to get my head around all the new units etc ....

To build some of the cool Hawkwood Red Lions or White Tower units, I would need to aim for Flux Sword / Body guards in the Tech tree?

Red Lions and White Tower are not buildable. You can build White Lion Guard units, and you need the four techs for bodyguards.

It's because of the Lore and to avoid several exploits. With future releases of EFS this will change though :-)

Speaking of which - it is fantastic that you have individual named leaders for the Nobles.

Any plans in the future to add corresponding artwork / portrait for each named noble?

How can I construct a building? There are not engineers and I can only build militia, nothing else!

You need to research. Have a look at the tech tree pdf that is included in the mod. For each tech I have added which units/building it enables.

Tip: go for mercenaries units, you can then hire League ENG so you can start building your cities.

You can't. Religion is really in the hands of the Church. Unless you declare war to it and get control of the churches.
