In an interview today Andrew Greenberg said he's releasing a patch for the game to mark its 25th anniversary. Anyone know if it will appear automatically through GOG for we owners?
That is the plan
Excellent plan :)

This game has been the gold standard for me throughout my entire life of strategy gaming, in spite of some fatal flaws. So pleased to see you've re-released it and are patching. Modders have done wondrous things with your truly magisterial creation.

I don't even think I ever owned the original game, it was a demo? I was young, but I've revisited it many times since. So glad to finally be able to pay for the pleasure.
What's the estimated time of arrival?
So this game was just released on Gog? It looks very good and with this patch from the dev looks very promising.
Thanks to the dev.

Wow, I had not heard this. That is great news. EotFS is such an amazing and unique and UNDERRATED 4x game. So glad it's getting some love.

If I could throw in my two cents, I would hope that one day we get full multiplayer LAN support and simultaneous turns. That would be heaven.

So no DirectX Wrappers for the game to run? Any chance of updating the visuals, to cater for widescreen monitors?

Right now EFS uses GOG's DirectX wrapper. Do you have concerns about that one?

On the contrary!! It works as intended!!

But it could make a lot of difference, if the game was updated to run natively in Win10/11!!

(I had to install Win98 over Dosbox, in order to play the complete CD version of EFS!! :D :D :D

I could sometimes get the ripped version (without music or cinematics ) to run natively on WinXp/7/10, after fiddling with dgvoodo2!! )

So it was an instant buy, the moment it became available to GoG!!

And I 've already bought Noble Armada: Lost Worlds on Steam, (but no time to play it)!!!!
Will this patch include adjustments to the A.I?
Holy Nidderdak! A patch for EFS! It's just can't be real...
Oh boy! Can't wait! Hopefully it handles the savefile corruption and sedentary Symbiotes issues. Maybe fixes the religion/patriarch system. Or at least addresses the missing animations (movement, combat, jumpgates).

And now to go make a copy of my edited DAT files so I can reapply my changes.
