I made a party quite some time ago and went down into the dungeon and played around for a while. Then I saved.
Now, when I choose "continue" to load my save I have no characters and I dunno where they went. That kept me from playing ever since, but maybe you can help?
I might not grasp the game logic. I hate the menu!
I might find the game entertaining if I get past the beginner difficulties.
Any help in getting my party back?
The save game says I have 9 characters, met 3 monsters and played nearly an hour.

Leave town without a party, and then go to the page where you can restart your party. Here, you can restart the party you were using. Note that time will pass and placed encounters will respawn when you do this. This will work provided your party wasn't wiped out.

If your party was wiped out, you will need to bring other characters into the dungeon to rescue them, just like in the early Wizardry games.

If your party was teleported into rock, your party is gone for good and I recommend reloading your save if that happens. Fortunately, this is rare and can't happen until later in the game (unless you cast Diomente during battle, which is risky).

Thanks for your reply!
My party was not wiped out and I have no idea how I leave the town. And why should I restart anything, the point of saving should be not having to restart, no?
When you load your savegame, go to world map menu, 2nd Icon (which you use to save in town) will have options "Save" and "Party 1", choose Party 1 to continue with your party.

It is made so to make it possible to have multiple parties venturing in dungeon at once.

You will start in the same place you were when you saved; there are just a couple minor drawbacks to doing so.

(The aging effect becomes significant in the postgame, but isn't too bad before then, and is reversible at that point; on the other hand, it means that reloading after every death isn't necessarily the best strategy in the late postgame.)
