I'm trying to figure out how damage works in regards to spells (Magical Fists, to be more accurate).
I have a Poison Axe III, with Melee Attack I and Attack Strength I. The weapon itself displays 82 Poison Damage + 10%, which should be at least 90.
I also have a Magical Fist of Poison, which has a spell called Poison Ball, and my Magic skill is at 5. The spell displays 40 Poison Damage + 50%, which should be 60.
Now my confusion kicks in when I found out, by coincidence, that my Poison Ball significantly out-damages my Poison Axe III.
There are a number of reasons why this could be, but the most likely one that stands out to me is that maybe a weapon that does a damage type doesn't do that type PURELY. (I'm at least confident that it is indeed a damage type and not just a status ailment, as some enemies take less damage from my Poison Axe III than other weaker weapons)
-EDIT: After a bit of further testing, my weapon's damage seems quite consistent with how much it claims to do (using Force Push & Power Wave as a rough basis to determine enemy HP), but my magic does way more damage than it shows it should do. With both my Magical Fist of Ice and my Magical Fist of Poison they do a LOT more damage than they show.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on here, why my Poison Ball does more damage?
