ChrisSZ: They even receive subsidies from the EU (taxpayers' money... do they have to pay it back when they make a profit BTW?).
How does that work?
ChrisSZ: Not sure about the possible success of Elex 2. The fact that Elex is a less-than-stellar game and the meta-score of 71 certainly won't help to create a big hype on its own. "Elex" has certainly not become a big name so far. Don't know what else they can do. I think they did a lot of promo during the months before release, such as being present on the relevant games conventions, giving lots of interviews, previews with some relevant Let's Play influencers etc. But that all doesn't help if the game is mediocre.
Yeah. I've enjoyed the game but imo it has a lot of problems.
The inaccurate descriptions, the (bold) move to not show health or damage and the pacing of what you can realistically fight being determined specifically by weapon damage (or Magic/PSI stat) make it a rougher experience than it had to be.
Also, playing on Ultra difficulty and it's been a miserable experience so far. You're pretty much barred from any meaningful combat until you start pumping those stats up big time so you can actually do any real damage. (I think perhaps you're not generally meant to start on Ultra difficulty? Not sure)
Actually, on the note of difficulty, I went up to a Runt Critter and tested how many shots from my Laser LSR-C (30 damage). Easy: 1.25 shots, Normal: 2 shots, Difficult: 4 shots, Ultra: 8 shots. Admittedly a beginning-of-the-game weapon damage amount but that's for a RUNT CRITTER. (I should elaborate: an enemy's Armor, which is point-for-point damage reduction down to a minimum damage, seems to be consistent across difficulties while their HP changes.)
