Elex 2 has some severe performance issues right now. We all know it. Even computers with RTX 3080 ti's are struggling to keep up with it in towns like The Fort.

So I'm considering doing a playthrough of Elex 1 and that'll give me some time to wait on some more patches from PB and hopefully the performance gets addressed, even a little bit.

From what I remember, Elex 1 is a great game and I think I'll enjoy it again.

Anyone else in a similar situation where you really dig the Elex vibes but want to kind of hold off on fixes? I can only take so much 32fps to 45 fps to 50 fps to 31 fps in 2 seconds, while in the Fort.

I might just stick with my Elex 2 playthrough though, not 100% sure yet.

Let me know what your thoughts are!

I toyed with doing that, but I played Elex 1 too recently to want to play again right now. So, I decided to just play #2 and see how it goes, I will do a back to back play through in a couple of years and then by then #2 will be kind of like a new game :)
I don't blame you. I managed to smooth out my fps in town by setting render scale to 130% and turning off ambient occlusion.
I suggest you give this mod a try:

https://www.nexusmods.com/elex2/mods/16/

Once I started using that mod, which makes the camera static and optionally removes or reduces camera smoothing, the wildly swinging frame rates felt much easier to deal with. Of course everyone is different but that really helped my experience and I continued on to finish the game.

I do hope they work on the performance before I feel like doing a 2nd run.

Cheers! I just found a mod that upped my fps to cap in most situations (72 fps) and 65-70ish in the fort.

Here's the link: https://www.nexusmods.com/elex2/mods/9 I also did a video highlighting it in action and what the game looks like with it enabled: https://youtu.be/Q1wHaT4PLy8

Note that the game looks pretty horrible with no shadows and highlights the fact that PB is really a AA studio as compared to AAA, but the soul of the game is the same.

I'm torn between playing it the way it's intended with lower fps or keeping this mod, for sure. The mod smooths things out big time, but I don't like having zero shadows.

Anyway take care and thanks again,

EDIT: About to try out that mod now without the mod I linked.
EDIT 2: I think I like your mod better. The one I found makes the game look like crap. I might just deal with the lower fps until it gets patched.
EDIT 3: No, I need the fps. I'm using both mods and it's the best of both worlds. Hopefully PB gets some optimizations out soon. Thanks again!
