Have they finally implemented proper ultrawide (specifically, 3440x1440) resolution support to Skyrim? Last time I tried this, I had to find like 3-4 different mods, half of which were out of date and didn't work, just to get the game to launch in ultrawide resolution. And even then, the UI was still busted and unusable, afterwards.

^^ This. The game requires so many mods to sort of work in UW. Even if there was just a fix so it didn't stretch the screen, let me display it with black borders on the side if no proper UW is coming.

No idea if Bethesda did fix it or not, (leaning towards not) but if you just want to get Skyrim in Ultrawide aspect ratio mod-free, go into your Documents folder, then My Games, Skyrim (whichever edition), and open up SkyrimPrefs.ini in notepad/your preferred text editor. Replace 'iSize H' with 1440, and 'iSize W' with 3440 and save. The Launcher respects whatever is entered in the .ini file unless you change the resolution from inside the launcher itself.

This does not work, the UI ends up thinking you're still at 16:9 aspect ratio (or something?) and gets cut off. You also can't just set it to 1440p and live with black bars on the side, because that also somehow makes the UI get cut off (or it just stretches across the entire monitor, I forget)???

Or, at least, all of the above applies to the Special Edition, no idea about with the Anniversary stuff.

I have no idea how Bethesda managed to mess it up so bad, considering Oblivion works on ultrawide with zero mods or ini file edits.

Yes, Bethesda's support for this game is terrible. I spent days trying to make the STEAM version work properly on UW full screen, but all I accomplished was I got the bottom part of the screen cut off.

When I saw this game on GOG my hopes were high, but apparently not...

Does anyone know how to make this game, work on UW or at least full screen normally and not in a window? I don't mind black borders.
Set a little bit (one step) lower resolution than your native.
Make sure settings everywhere in video driver\display-monitor\game have option Keep Aspect ratio enabled.
uncheck windowed and borderless

Or if you play in windowed(+borderless) - set even more a little bit lower resolution. Anyway for windowed it take from desktop.

This ones at least fix cut-off of the game screen. At this point it is 'UW supported', its at least shouldt be huge issues like that.

If you set resolution from ini or want better scaled ui - use a mod linked on PCGW article.
Hihi all,

I got 3440x1440 working by following a guide on steam that came up from a google search:

steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2674564604

never played skyrim before, never mind modded it. only thing i found, after messing with it for aaages and it not working, was that vortex put it's loadorder and plugins files in
...\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition\

whereas the GOG install looks to create
...\AppData\Local\Skyrim Special Edition GOG\

so I copied the files from the former to the latter after following the guide and boom it worked perfectly.

And then I spent the rest of the day till right now playing it.
Seems pretty decent so far... I'll give it another 12 hours tomorrow and see how I feel about it then :)
I can vouch for the above. The Complete Widescreen for Vanilla works. Running at 3840x1600.

The only version that actually works: Complete Widescreen Fix for Vanilla - 2560x1080
Tried the others but they fail.

Nexus: www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1778?tab=files

Bugs I have found:

1. Main Menu doesn't show selections. If you click on the right side, they will show up.
2. Menu items in game that appear at the top of the screen require that you click above them to work. Don't ask me why, but this is the workaround.

Note you have to go under Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\SkyrimPrefs.ini and change the resolution to your desired resolution.

Edit: New bug found. Cannot use the continue game button. You must load a game manually. Profile related and this mod adds a profile. Using the Continue game button starts a brand new game.
