...that I have never run into before: For some reason, and at unknown time intervals, items that I have stolen (and are marked as "red/contraband/hand symbold") suddenly gets their "stolen" status removed. For example, I stole some piles of salt (was gonna make me sum of that delicious apple cabbage stew!) and when I check roughly an hour later, I suddenly have no stolen salt piles, only regular ones, same number as before but somehow now legal...

As I'm doing a new playthrough with a thief/burglar-styled character, this really kills any thrill of stealing and not being caught. I have no clue what has happened...never seen this before... Is there anyone else who has had or has this problem? I have a heavily modded game but I am at a complete loss as to what could be causing this.

Best regards and have a really great weekend! :D / Nocturne

The game will put "stolen" and" non-stolen" items in the same group.

Let's say you stole 5 salt piles, if you *buy* 2 salt piles: you will see 7 salt piles *not* marked as stolen in your inventory.
However, as soon as you use the 2 (bought) salt piles, the 5 salt piles will be marked as stolen again.

This is why if you are arrested, only items marked stolen will be confiscated. In that case, the 5 salt piles would be removed, and you would only be left with 2 salt piles.

There are mods that remove the stolen flag from low cost items if no one saw you stealing it: "Mum's the Word NG".

You are partly correct - this seems to be the case for some items, and I didn't know it works this way. However, I have 28 stolen bottles of Honningbrew from that meadery near Whiterun and, for some reason, only 7 of those got marked stolen even though I am 100% sure they were all marked stolen when I, well, stole them... A few hours later and I'm suddenly able to sell 21 of them? Only thing I can think of is that only a few of those bottles were marked as stolen...

Ohwell this seems to be the only case that I've seen. I'll keep the ticket open for a while longer. Thanks.
Confirmed: The bug is there and I have no idea what is causing it!

I got back to Riverwood and went to collect my stashed loot in Alvor's house. I grab all my things and head over to Lucan; for some reason I was able to sell a longbow that I didn't know I had. I reloaded and that longbow IS MARKED AS STOLEN when it's inside my stash chest but once I bring it out and place it into my inventory it gets unflagged?? What is going on?

Also seem to be working in reverse; items that I place into the container are randomly assigned "stolen" flags...

BUMP - I'm at my wits end. Has anyone experienced anything similar?
