I've read some of the lengthy super-mod info, using different downloads to manage hundreds of multiple overlapping mods, etc. Frankly it's a little over my head.... is there an easy way to just use one basic mod or two?

Specifically, my kid just wants to use "whiterunchristmas.esp." Thanks!

There are many xmas mods for Skyrim. Do you mean 'Christmas in Whiterun'?

Yes that's the one. We copied an old save-game from a prior PC and it said that .esp is missing. I just want to replace that one mod/.esp and reload the saved game.

Old? You mean a save from a DRM edition of Skyrim? I have a hard time believing that will ever load on GoG's Skyrim.

Also that mod is over 10 years old, it may not work even on a DRM Skyrim SE edition and my experience with mods that old is they do not work with GoG's Skyrim.

Yes it was from a Steam save game. If it won't work... what's the shortest way for a beginner to add a very basic NEW mod to his/her Skyrim game? Again, sorry, some of the modding forums make it sound complicated. Thanks all.

Create a (free) nexusmods.com account and Install Vortex. One basic mod on Nexus I know works is 'Detailed Rugs SE'.
It only needs the base game.
