Today a massive new upgrade to Skyrim was rolled out for Console and Steam users, what about GOG?

The Unofficial patch team contacted Bethesda, they said an update for GOG is planned, but no release date yet.
In the meantime, they will keep both versions of the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch available, 4.3.0 for Steam users and 4.2.9a for GOG users.

I think it's the first time ever that they've done this, usually they just delete the old version.

Grab those offline installers while you can.

They meant that they never left up old versions of USSEP.
I am pretty sure that old versions of Skyrim will stay up on GOG via the rollback option.

That said having offline backups of a game is always a good thing!

(If only I had enough storage :( )

We likely won't get it. The update is actually for their garbage paid mod store. I don't think GoG allows this type of thing.

It's not only that. According to patch notes it fixes some crashes , bugs , adds deck support etc.

Thanks for the info.
As TAGma said there was confirmation that patch for GOG is planned. Now we gotta hope Bethesda don't forget about it
(and its hopefully this year ...)

I got Anniversary Edition so I wouldn't need to pay for any more DLC.
Keep those 1.6.659.0.8 offline installers close lads, never know what may happen.

Yep - so glad I picked this up on gog recently in the sale - I've been playing on Steam, told Steam not to update unless game launched (and using Vortex + SKSE doesn't trigger that) ... but Steam just updated the game anyway today without so much as a warning (it did it in the background). This, of course, broke the game due to my mods needing different versions.

So I installed the gog version, got the gog-specific mods I needed (SKSE, USSEP, and a handful of others - most mods didn't need a new version), pointed Vortex to my new install, redeployed mods, and continued playing happily.

At least I no longer have to worry about stealth updates. I'll just have to keep backups of everything.

Yep - That's the reason I keep my games on GOG. I have some "double" games on Steam, but that was before they where available on GOG. These days I first wait if the game will be available on GOG, before going to any other store front. Even if that means I have to wait for several days or even weeks.

The only downside is that GOG is VERY slow with updating off-line installers. And it's these that I want to have to keep my games safe, and free from "unwanted updates".

By the way - I use Vortex to mod Skyrim. One of the nice things is that Vortex stores every mod in a specific location. Of course together with the version of Skyrim I have, I also make a backup of all the working mods. Even if mods get removed or stop working, I still can install the version of Skyrim I have, and drag and drop the working mods on the Mod manager I use. That way I can always be sure I have a fully modded version of Skyrim stored at a safe place.

I hope this version never gets the update but if it does I have backed up two copies of the offline installers.
Skyrim just received the latest update.
