The GOG version of Morrowwind will not start;every time I try I get a NO CD message. I am running the game on a Windows 7 64 bit computer.

Do you have any CD drive (real or virtual) on your PC?
I have a DVD drive
A real one.

Did you alter the game any way? With some fan mods / fixes etc?

Have you ever installed a DVD version of Morrowind before? There may be traces left of that installation.
No,I bught it yesterday and just installed it. No mods, no nothing. This happened the first time I tried to start it.
Yes, I did install a CD version.
BUT I ran the STEAM version of Morrowwind without any problem.

Just tried it with my old Morrowwind CD in the drive and it started; But since I bought the GOG version laregely to not have to bother with a CD,and because it is DRM free unlike the Steam version, that is not a huge help to running the GOG version.
So it probably is some trace of the Uninstalled CD version, now the problem becomes how to get rid of the traces.

I feel like an idiot;I checked my Bethsada folder where I keep my copy of Fallout 3,and ,behold there was still a Morrowwind folder;with just a couple of files in it. I deleted those, tried the GOG version, and it started perfectely.
I guess for some reason when I unintalled the CD version a year ago (after I got the Steam version) the uninstall program miseed a couple of files and those were causing the problem.
Still, weird the Steam version did not have a conflict with the CD morrowwiwnd files, but the GOG version does. Maybe a minor patch is in order.....
