After killing the invaders and talking to the sorcerer in Odirniran, I have a choice to listen to his theories or not. Yet no matter which option I choose, he says the same thing. According to the UESP wiki, that's not supposed to happen; he's supposed to give me some scrolls if I choose to listen to him. Thus, the fact that he doesn't can most likely be attributed to a bug.

But the UESP also says that that bug was fixed, even though in the version I'm playing it clearly isn't.

What's the last journal entry about this quest for you?

This bug, according to the UESP, has only been fixed in the Morrowind Patch Project (the Unofficial Patch as it used to be called) - you'll have to do some console magic if you're playing vanilla Morrowind. The commands to fix things are:

setjournalindex, "HT_Odirniran", 60 - this gives you the next journal entry (about theories and summoning scrolls)

and then, if you want the scrolls, the command is

player->additem sc_summondaedroth_hto 7

I do recommend patching the game with the Unofficial Patch; it squishes quite a lot of nasty bugs. :)
