Hey folks!

I do not have Skyrim, but I do have MO2 for other games. While reading about different Skyrim problems I came across a few people that needed a work around for the way profile files are not being placed properly so that game reads the files it needs, in order to function with MO2.

It looks to me that people have to copy and paste the Profile files manually over to the AppData/Local game folder.
Well try this and let everyone know if this solves the problem?

If you already have been playing the game and have your mods setup, manually copy and paste all of your files in the MO2 Profile folder to the AppData\Local\ game folder so everything is 1 for 1. So nothing is lost. DO NOT literally copy the folder with the files, copy the files themselves!

Now start MO2:

In MO2--> (upper left corner) Tools--> Settings--> Paths
Profiles bar
3 dots on the right--> now find the AppData\Local folder and "Select Folder". Do not panic! You just switched folders to look someplace different and its ok because you copied and pasted the files to the Skyrim folder....RIGHT??
In the settings Paths option, click OK.

Upper left corner in MO2, click Tools--> Profiles--> Scroll to find your Skyrim folder, select it. Done.

Now the base game and MO2 should use the same folder and anything MO2 changes, should dump the files into the same folder. This should no longer require you to manually copy and paste everything from MO2, to the AppData\Local game folder every time you add or subtract stuff.

Again, let me and everyone else know if this works for you!

There is already a patch for MO2 so that it recognizes the GOG version.

Does the game recognize the files though? I cant test it. Im just curious in case I get the game later on.

I can't personally test it either.
I uninstalled the GOG version and gone back to Steam LE, hoping GOG SE gets better mod support down the track.
But yes, it puts the files into the folder where the game looks for them, and any mods that are compatible with the GOG version will work just as they do with the Steam version.

Think I will have to wait for someone to test and confirm this before a purchase. So if anyone is willing to do so, please let us all know., if the mods function correctly. Include esp mods and test out some non esp texture replacers and see if they go into the game!

Using MO2, obviously.
Dont forget to look in the AppData/Local/game folder.

I have not had to copy-paste anything since the release of MO2's new skyrimse plugin and skse 2.2.3. My LO is up to 217 already with a mix of skse and regular mods. Sure, some skse mods still don't work with a few key holdouts and unofficial builds, but overall it's a marked improvement since release.

The appdata/local folder is relatively clean. SSEEdit apparently left something there when I was looking for esl-able mods, but there's nothing else in there. The game uses MO2's profile data.

Can't confirm about copying files over, for me creating a **portable** instance works. As Todd would say, it just works.

I use a separate install of MO2 for every game, as its install size is minimal compared to the mods I actually use, why why fret over storage constraints where it doesn't matter?
