Because my new laptop does not have a CD drive, I decided to get the GOG version of Oblivion. However, I am encountering entirely new issues that I never did with a physical copy. Namely: gamesas. com/ missing-few-inventory-icons-t339702.html I decided to go with a minimal mod only run, so the only mods that I have installed are the Unofficial Patches and its support files, OBSE, and follower double face fix Oblivion Nexus mods 34753 I'm not going to bother reinstalling because this is already as "clean" a game as I can make it.

The best way that I know to solve this issue is to recover or replace the icons. I encountered a similar problem with wine on my physical copy of Oblivion, and I "fixed" the issue by simply overwriting all the wine in the game with a completely new mod: Oblivion Nexus mods 34111 However, I don't know which mods can do so. Well, I'm being forced to recall that this game is borderline torture with issues right out of the box. I had to work around posting hyperlinks, due to being unable to do so.

Hello,
It sounds like a corrupted install. That should not be happening. Are you installed using Linux? I'd suggest if you use galaxy to repair your installation.
I use Windows 10. What, is GOG known to do installs wrong? A viable hot fix is just to have the icon files separately in the game folders, like it's a "mod", which was basically what I had to do with the wine bottles.

Oblivion has been known to every once in a while not install correctly. Maybe 1 in 10 to 1 in 20 times.

The other factor is if you are installing in the program files then you'll see this kind of behavior as windows attempts to protect you by blocking certain files.
Can I solve this with Galaxy's verify and repair feature, or do I have to completely uninstall and start fresh? In terms of where I'm installing, I have a completely separately drive on my computer from my program files where I install games and the like.

Verify and repair did not work, so do I really have to completely uninstall and then reinstall?
A full reinstall did literally nothing. As such, I am requesting the inventory icon files of the following items of clothing:
Breeches
Clogs
Shirt with suspenders (from what I can see, it's the more common version; in other words, 0002858B instead of 00064F77)
With the proper file directories, of course.

From whom do you request these files? Perhaps you report this problem to GOG Support?

Regarding the problem itself, my advice is:
- Uninstall Oblivion and make sure ALL files have been deleted. This includes the files in the main folder, in My Games (saves, etc. - if you want, you can backup the saves folder before deleting it) and all mod files. If you know how to do it, convince yourself that Oblivion's registry entries have been removed, too.
- Download the non-Galaxy version of Oblivion and install it. Start the game without installing ANY mods and unofficial patches and check if the problem is still there. If it is, then it's likely that you didn't remove ALL files and registry entries before re-installing Oblivion. But if you're certain that this is not the case, then I recommend you report the problem to GOG Support, accompanied by suitable evidence.
- If the problem has disappeaared, then you can add any mods or unofficial patches to your Oblivion installation, either all at the same time, or one-by-one (the latter makes the identification of a "culprit" easier, if there is one, the former is quicker, if there is no culprit among the mods and unofficial patches).
- If Oblivion still works fine, you could try installing the Galaxy version, too (this may work even without uninstalling the non-Galaxy version first, but I never tried this), initially without your mods or unofficial patches. Check if the problem is there or not. If not, install the mods and/or unofficial patches, ...
- In the end, you either have a working game, or you know where the problem is (if you follow the process I described above).

PS: From my personal experiences with Oblivion, I think it's highly unlikely that the game itself causes your problem, nor does the Unofficial Patch. Where mods are involved, I've learnt not to be surprised about anything.
With that said, my personal guess is that there is a problem with the interaction of Oblivion and Galaxy (but, of course, I might be wrong).
Actually using Galaxy might be my problem. By "non-Galaxy version", you mean the 3 separate files under Download Offline Backup Game Installers, correct?

Yes. Good luck!
Nope. Still didn't work. FYI, the icon issue for the shirt at least is only in regards to the male version. When it's in my female character's inventory, it looks like as it would use the female icon. However, it would have to use the male icon when in shops, on male NPCs, etc. Also, I'm posting this here under the assumption that this is GOG support. Is that a more formal contact form that I don't know about?

This is the GOG forum for the Elder Scrolls games where users can just talk with each other, the GOG support site is found here:

I submitted it there with a screenshot, but here is that same screenshot, anyway.

Please confirm that you removed EVERYTHING Oblivion-related (files, registry entries) from your PC, and then installed the non-Galaxy version of Oblivion, and NOTHING ELSE (no mods, no unofficial patches), then launched Oblivion and then noticed that the problem was still there! Did you start a new game or have you used an older save game (which you had backed up before removing the whole Oblivion installation, and then restored to the saves folder)?
When you say that icons are missing, are you referring to the icon files on your disk, or to their visual representation on your monitor (your screenshot seems to indicate the latter - is the problem limited to the inventory display, or have you seen something similar on the main game screen or elsewhere?)?
I may be wrong, but your screenshot seems to indicate that the format of the inventory icons not displayed properly is different from the format of the inventory icons displayed properly. One reason for such a behaviour is that the not properly displayed icons have been copied to your hard disk via a mod. If you are sure that you haven't installed a mod (and have properly removed all mods before re-installing the game), then I give up - the only other cause that comes to my mind is corrupted files, but again, if your installation is clean and fresh from the downloaded files, then no files should be corrupted.

Like I said, the only "mods" that I have installed are fix patches, so if I get rid of those, I would essentially, at best, be trading 1 bug for several others.
