I don't think I understood what "solution" you had tried, but also don't think that you could blame the community if nobody has yet replied to your post which is only few hours old and where you provided no information about your system.

That said, I suggest you to follow this guide thoroughly.

First of all, I don't use Galaxy. I just downloaded and installed Redguard on my PC (Win10/64b). Launched without a problem. Perhaps you could try the offline downloader, too?
It might also be worth trying to launch the game not by using the desktop icon, but an exe directly (I remember a few cases, where the launch icon of a GOG game didn't work - Redguard isn't one of these games).
I'm referring to the non-Galaxy version of Redguard (but I guess the installation folder of the Galaxy folder doesn't look differently). Go to the main folder and double-click Launch Redguard.exe. You ought to see a DosBox screen, followed by a black screen for one or two seconds, then a 3Dfx screen and the main initialisation screen for Redguard and the intro.
If this doesn't work, go to the Redguard subfolder underneath the main installation folder. There is a Redguard.exe. Double-clicking this file ought to produce the non-DosBox main screen of Redguard. Starting Redguard from this menu won't work out of the box (you get a "no CD" error message), but it proves at least that your PC is capable of running Redguard. There is also an rgfx.exe in this folder, which is the file DosBox calls; don't try to run it directly - this will produce an error message saying the your PC can't run Redguard).
There are other things to try, especially when you have some basic understanding what the DosBox parameters mean, but please try the offline version, run the Launch Redguard.exe directly, if running it via the desktop icon fails. And if this doesn't work either, test the Redguard.exe (does the main screen get displayed at all?).
I can assure you that the GOG version of Redguard does work. THe issues some users report are, in most cases, not associated with launching Redguard, but with performance and display of Redguard.
I can't say whether or not you are going to like Redguard or not, but it'a definitely worth a look. Bear in mind that Redguard is a kind of an action adventure rather than a role-playing game, and thus very different from all other TES games.
Regarding the "community": You are obviously more likely to find negative comments than positive ones - you shout when things don't work, not when they work. And the graphics and the UI of Redguard are really not state-of-the-art today. If you can live with these shortcomings, you may find that Redguard is a very decent game.

I tried launching from the REdguard folder;that the first thing I did after it failted to luanch from Galaxy. Same result;I got the dosbox splalch, but no 3dfx splaah and a CTD.
I might try the not galaxy versiion, but I am not hopeful. The game is the same, only sifferen is these is a link from Galaxy to the game /exe file.
And I tried replacing the Glide version that comes with the GOG version iwth another wrapper, same result.
And, yes, fthe original redguard exe does work in that I get the loading screen, and aslo get the no CD message.
I tried most of whay you suggested wiht the sam reuslt. FOr somereason the dos box program that comes ithe the GOG version and 3dfx just don't like each other. I thini it's when dosbox tries to implement 3dfx that the crash happens.
Iam running windows 7 64 bit with a Nividia 650 card btw.
Byt thanks for tyring to help,....but it seems pretty hopeless. I tried that step by step with the newest version of the Voodoo emulaltor. The link in that guide does not work I had to google the driver he was talking about. Same result.

I did download the offline installer....same thing happened.
This is the first game I got from GOG that just plain refuses to start.

I know of another one (ATI graphics driver issue, newer versions of these drivers are not downward compatible). Since then I stay away from ATI cards as far as I can, as I play older games quite often.

Looks like the GOG version of Redguard and your PC don't like each other. Blaming one or the other doesn't help, and as GOG is unlikely to solve the problem, you'll have to find a solution yourself. I can offer you two guesses: It's either a registry issue (incomplete deinstallation, leftovers from earlier installations - a typical Morrowind or Oblivion problem), or a software incompatibility probably associated with DOSBox and 3Dfx, but not necessarily with the Redguard game files themselves. There is also the remote possibility of an issue with the settings in the Reguard system.ini file (see [url=https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Redguard:Technical_Tips_and_Hacks]https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Redguard:Technical_Tips_and_Hacks[/url]).
If you're somewhat familiar with DOSBox, you might try to run Redguard using a separate DOSBox installation (normal or Daum) instead of GOG's DOSBox.
In principle, Redguard (without DOSBox) runs under Win95/98, and I did that myself in the past, successfully. As the GOG version works fine for me, I haven't tried to run it under a newer WinOS, but there may be a way, using compatibility settings and/or other tweaks of your Win7 system. I'm pretty sure the no-CD issue can be overcome relatively easily (like in Daggerfall).
Otherwise you can consult the internet, there are many tipps how to get Redguard to run. Without knowing your PC there is not much I can do, sorry.

PS: If possible, I'd try to install Redguard on a different PC. Perhaps you can launch it there.

Iam almost cetain it's a dosbox/3dfx issue. That it crashes every single time when dosbox tries to load glide can't be a coincidence.

i have though about trying to run it in my indeendent dosbox,but would need help in how to set the GOG versionof Redguard up. I have done this on a couple of other dosbox games mainly becuase the GOG dosbox quite a few times makes loading user levels hard...but the wierd Windows/DOS combined launching system for Redguard puzzles me.
I presume there are some dedicated TES websites'forums where I could get help.
I tried compaitilbiy changes to no avail. I am 905 sure it a Dosbox..as least the version that comes with the gog version do not like each other,
And chekcing out this forum a couple of people had the exact same problem, but never got it slolved, Imiaght just have to write Redguard off. But I wlll see if I can't find a fix somewhere.

The TES forum I was referred to was not much help. ALmost all the thehcincal guides referred to the o riginal CD version of Redguard. There was a section on running without a CD, but it assumes you have the CD version. One importan part to about transferiing the contents of CD2 to the hard deive in a seperate folder, and I have no idea which files were on CD 2.
I think the best thing is to just forget about for a while. This has no easy fix.

I tried Battlespire..the other TES adventure game which has reputation of havinf alot of problems running...and I had no problems running it.

How do you know that your crashes are caused by DOSBox trying to load Glide? Until now all you said was that Redguard crashes before displaying the 3Dfx splash screen.
The DOSBox configuration is contained in the two files dosbox_redguard.conf and dosbox_redguard_single.conf. Put those two files in one new .conf file and try to run your own DOSBox system. Or enter the commands manually in DOSBox.
You could also experiment with the DOSBox configuration (for example changing the graphics mode from "overlay" to "opengl" or so - or have you tried this already?).
And I do recommend to install Redguard on a different PC, if that's possible for you - just to find out what happens, chances are that Redguard will launch successfully.
