zippythezip: buying this on GOG is a no brainer. Like I said I dont know what you are looking for.
Unless you want to use mods like EnhancedCharacterEdit SE, which wasn't updated for the GOG version, in which case you have to stick with the steam version.

Yea thats true for a few mods. I am not famililar with ECE but use race menu.
For anyone else reading this you can add https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/75686
these are ECE sliders added to race menu.
I have the GOG version of Skyrim AE and I think at last count 119 mods. All work fine. I install and update them through Vortex. Don't even need to start GOG to run the game. I run Vortex, start SKSE and the game runs.
Not all mods will work with GOG's skyrim. Mods are also not needed to enjoy the game.

I have to strongly disagree.

First off, there is not a vanilla game out there that I have grown bored with in the first week of playing it. Mods are an essential part of gaming today.

Secondly, I would not have been able to play Skyrim when it was first released because the shadows created a kaleidoscope effect on my system. I thought it was my dated graphics card, but then a modder released a Hi res graphic overhaul. I didn't think it would work, but I wanted to see what it would look like. The graphics worked perfectly. So it was a modder that allowed me to play Skyrim.
I also use the keypad for my movement keys. My room was always set up were the mouse was to my left. I sit back and kick my feet up when I'm playing games for 24 plus hours. Anyway, to this day, I still need to find a mod that allows me to use the keypad with Skyrim.

Unfortunately, computer games are made today, not to create a great game, but to make money. Cd Projekt Red is the exception. Bethesda has been one of the worst. They gotta make that money for their investors. So they push out a game, designed for consoles and then try to port it over to PC. That was clearly done for Skyrim. Lets go from a weak platform and port it to a stronger platform, while keeping our budget in check so we can make more of a profit from all those PC users out there. In my opinion Skyim was an accident. They made a great game that could have been greater, if they had spent more time in development. The fact that anyone is still talking about Skyrim, at all, is because Bethesda made it modable. Modders are the only reason Skyim still lives.
And personaly, I want more overhauls, because I am so sick of hearing about the Dragonborn.

I need to correct or clarify one of my statements. Cd Projekt Red is not the only exception. There are other developers out there that do what they can to create a great game. My apologies for that overly broad statement.
Typically, when a company goes public, with their board of money hungry dictators, any integrity that company may have had goes out the window,

Very few games have mods. If you cant play a game without mods the problem is you not the game developer.

No most games have mods.
If modding a game makes it more fun for me, then it's not so much that I can't play without them.
More that I won't play without mods, because I play for my enjoyment, not the devs.
Though because I do mod most games, I don't look to blame devs, I just mod the problem away.

Every Ini edit is Modding the game, and their are many games broken without mods.
Every Cheat Engine Table, mods the game, and most gamers have no idea how advanced it is.
It's not just "God Mode", but Iron Man Mode, or tweaking things to make the game more fun.
For some that means making combat harder, resources scarcer.

Whether a game gets other more advanced mods, depends on it's popularity.
More play, more mods get made, so many low selling games never get much traditional mods.
Fantasy RPG + Very Popular = Lots of mods, like Hogworts Legacy, not even two months old, and 900 mods, and counting.

No, most games have hacks calling themselves mods. And yes I well aware of why you are so dependent on mods........To Cheat with.

Half of the Skyrim mods are simply for cheating in the game.

Not that cheaters ever admit that but yes thats what anybody who writes 'cant play without them' are doing with them.

It's not true, most of the mod in nexus is used to extend the gameplay of a game, especially for skyrim.

-> Is "unp/cbbe" a cheat for you? Because it affects only the model of a character.
-> Is it a cheat a mod that add more story content?
-> Is the "Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition" Patch a cheat too? Because it fixes many bugs and an exploit to infinity increase in loop a weapon and armor stat.

-> It is for you a cheat the mod/hack that merges Might and magic 8 and might and magic 7 in one game? Because with this mod or cheat like you said I did a soloing run instead of four characters normally, increasing drastically the game.
-> Did you try Stalker oblivion lost 2.2 back them in 2010? Because this mod added many new artifacts and new ways to fuse thems, extending the gameplay with random emission. I played it with the maximal difficulty at the start where every enemy can kill you in almost one or two shoot? It is a cheat for you?
-> did you try fallout 3 without mod patch and when you need to tweak the ini for the game to be able to lunch? It is a cheat for you too?
->Vampire bloodline GoG version has incorporated Unofficial Patch 10.2 from Wesp5. So technically a hack/cheat are incorporated in this game, why don't you make a complaint to gog support?

Lastely if somone want to cheat, why bothering with a mod when you can download and use cheat engine?
If i remember usng a mod deasactivate trophy but not with "cheat engine" i think.

Mod are used to extend the "gameplay" or "fixe" a game.
Player are free to play the ways they want in a solo game, you have no right to judge people like you do.

Don't worry, I am enjoying my game with the "Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch" that correct Bug quest and exploit.
I hope you are enjoying your unmoded game with Gold exploit, duplicate armor, Hybrid Werewolf-vampire and infinite enhancement weapon/armor.
Oh, and for someone how don't like a mod that considers them like cheat I hope you are enjoying the "Creation Club" that has been created by the community. :)

Oh I am sure you enjoyed your first mod install that showed where everything was on the map. haha

Whaaat? Is that how you mod your games? To cheat? I have over 300 mods on my Skyrim install (fewer actual packages than it sounds, some mods come with a dozen compatibility patches for other mods, and each of those patches counts as a separate mod), and none of them give me any gameplay advantage. In fact, I have some which actually make gameplay more difficult (slower leveling, actually dark darkness, heavier fog, etc). Most are bug fixes and story/quest mods. And the rest are visual mods for characters, textures, weather, etc. And this is how most folks mod libraries for SKyrim go. Cheating at Skyrim would be lame - its a single player game. The only folks who'd generally do so are those ridiculously bad at the game (its easy, you don't need to cheat, lol) or those that have already played through it a hundred times and looking to alternate the gameplay to make something different and fun. You're sadly mistaken about the state of Skyrim modding.

On topic of the thread however - most of the mods I used in SE have already been updated to GOG by now.. To be clear, most didn't need updating but of those that did, they're done. OPs doom and gloom seems misdirected, as this is exactly how it would've been expected to go - mod authors doing stuff for free are going to take time to update mods. You just need some patience. The GOG version works fantastically, and as a stable stand-alone version, is actually better for modding long-term than the Steam version.
Lol! What a disillusion, single player games are cheated all the time. All you have to do is watch the youtubes of braggers and look at their unattainable stats. haha!

But I will modify my statement. Half of the mods are for cheating and of the other half, half of them are for giving females freakishly large mammaries and behinds.

So Raenikker enjoy your cheating with freakazoid females. Rofl!

Eh, I don't have either of those things. There is something very wrong with your thought process. Good job outing yourself with your renaming.
