Just installed Daggerfall and the rat is killing me. Why? Because the "swing weapon" control isn't working. I've tried both the default M2 (Mouse 2) and also remapping to another key (making sure there were no conflicts). Nothing is working.

Anyone else see this and have a solution?

I played both Morrowind and Oblivion and intend to do Skyrim in time. Couldn't pass up the latest deal to flesh out my Elder Scrolls collection though. :)

You have to actually hold the mouse button while moving the mouse to attack. Simply clicking the mouse button once won't make you attack with a melee weapon.

Of note, once you manage to attack, note that combat is dice-based (like in Morrowind). The game doesn't check for collisions to see if you hit; instead the game rolls dice when you attack, and if the attack hits, your weapon is shown hitting the target.

Thanks for the tip! I remembered during the night about moving the mouse to attack and confirmed my faulty memory just a short time ago. I'm fine with dice rolls to determine outcome and I've seen the formula (although type of swing - slash, chop, stab - wasn't too clear how it was factored in).
