I'm considering getting SE, but I've read that the GOG version has (had?) a number of issue with modding, which as far as I'm concerned, is the only reason to play Skyrim. So, questions:

-What's the deal with SKSE?
-Does it work with Mod Organiser?
-Is the CK included?
-Is there *any* good reason to pick AE over SE?
-Are there any important issues I should know about?

Thanks in advance.

Another one of DRM trolls posting what they already know the answer too but want to spread FUD for the crime of GOG 'stealing' the cash-cow of a DRM platform company.

"What's the deal with SKSE?"

What do you mean? Sorry, I'm not sure what you are asking.

"Does it work with Mod Organiser?"

Yes.

"Is the CK included?"

No.

"Is there *any* good reason to pick AE over SE?"

You get more Creation Club stuff.

"Are there any important issues I should know about?"

Another question too vague to answer. Read the info on the store page. That might address your question.

I read there were compatibility issues with SKSE and the GOG SE version a while back. Not sure if they have been fixed now.

I'd just like to know if the game works just as well as the steam version, or if I should expect some extra issues, like the CK being unavailable (thanks for the info by the way).
Creation Kit is not included in Skyrim-GOG version.
There used to be a DRM-free version, but it's been taken down.

Uhuru N'Uru user made a great tutorial on how to run the CK-Steam version on Skyrim-GOG:

Unfortunately my version of the CK is for LE, and I very much doubt they're compatible. Thanks though. :)

But other than that, can someone please confirm if there are still issues with SKSE? Anyone here playing with a heavy mod setup?

I'm currently playing a heavily modded version through gog using vortex. It seems to work fine. I installed using the off line installers.

Thank you all.

Avogadro6: Thank you all.
The only thing I had to do when it first released was my document go to where the config file was, you'll see one created by vortex and another by the game itself, they are not the same. Copy the one that was updated to the one that was not updated. (usually vortex files to gog files).
