Fresh from their discord:

"The New Game + Update is coming on November 9th on PC!

In this new mode you will be able to explore the world of Heryon in a completely new way. Your weapons and progressions are saved for a new adventure starting directly on the shores of Inel. Although the overall difficulty of the enemies has been increased, you will be able to activate two modifiers at will during your game:
+ The Mirror World
+ The Big Head mode

We've also scattered numerous steles throughout the open world so you can change the weather to your liking.

To conclude, this update brings a new feature that the community has been waiting for over the years: the auto-battle mode. Let your computer fight for you. Combine it with gear shifting to smooth out the overall experience."

Hopefully it will arrive on GOG soon as well. But given how the devs/publisher supported GOG in the past I have no doubt about it and I am looking forward to this. :)
Thanks for posting this info.

I am not clear what exactly the info the OP is describing though.

Is it a new mode that is separate from the main story?

Or is it done within the main story?

Supplementary question: for how long is development on this game expected to continue?

I have it in my backlog but I didn't play it yet because I don't want to play an incomplete and/or un-ideal version.

Although I had previously thought (based on dev announcements from a really long time ago) that development on it was expected to wrap up at around Summer 2022, yet it seems that is not accurate.

So what is the new date by when they plan to have wrapped up development on this game permanently, i.e. the date beyond which there will be no more updates after that point?

EDIT: I just re-read my previous posts and realized that I was mis-remembering when I thought Summer 2022, and it seems the actual old announcement was rather for "Q4 2022."

Although I still have the same question as to when development on this game will end, exactly.

Since it is called New Game+ I guess we can be sure that you will be able to restart the game in one of those new modes after you have finihed the game.

In my understanding the mode is unlocked after completing the main story once and you can replay the main story with the new mode afterwards.

The game isn't early access anymore at all (went out of EA in 06/20211) so basically development is finished. What we are talking about now are additional (and at least in my case unexpected) features the community was asking about. You should consider this as additional bonus.

I played the game completely from start to finish and the only bugs I experienced were some German translation issues. The game is completely finished - everything they do now is additional bonus based on gamers feedback.

You are confusing development and additional support. A good indie game gets supported and perfected as long as the devs can afford to do so. There's a certain product cycle for eeach product. Again: the game itself is finishjed and perfectly playable.

Will this update go live on Game pass for PC on the 9th as well ?
and does anyone have the installation version number for this update mine sits currently at 1.0.1.0

fancy another crack at this game only got halfway through last time.

Well, what I'm getting at is: I distinctly remember these devs promising to add all kinds of content that wasn't in the initial release, including end-game content and extra stuff about interacting with the chocobo stand-ins, and stuff like that.

They announced all of that as part of their official roadmap for the game.

So maybe it would help if I ask: have the devs actually 100% delivered on all the content that they promised in that official roadmap via new game patches?

If not, then when is the date by which they will have done so?

Or, have they failed to do so and also abandoned their intentions to complete that content?

I did not know about any roadmap and honestly, I don't care at all since the game was extremely playable and I had lots of fun playing it. But the devs did post something regarding their roadmap as well, maybe it will help you:

"In parallel to the development of our unannounced project we have created a new team dedicated to the monitoring, maintenance and development of Edge of Eternity. We are currently working on a number of "Quality of Life" patches for the next few months. These patches will improve the overall player experience, fix long-broken elements, development errors, unfinished features, or stubborn bugs. We'd like to offer these patches in dribs and drabs, with one update per month, to ensure an optimized and polished experience.

New playable content is currently being considered. Unfortunately, the various remaining additions announced in the roadmap have been pushed back to 2023"

So they are in fact still working on it. Like I said I never knew that they intended to add stuff to the game and still had the feeling of getting A LOT for my money ... but sure - it's your choice if you want to wait even longer.

They are quite active on their discord so if you should have further questions or if you should need more detail on what the planned I suggest you to post on their discord directly.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: stuff
ARD, I'm using this thread in a sub-area just to say, since you don't have chat enabled, "I realize we butt-heads sometimes, but I know you're generally a positive contributer and the source of the butting comes from a good place, unlike with some other individuals." (Hopefully the forum is smart enough to notify you.)

But on-topic: I really want this freaking game to finish development so I can play it! I can't play a long narrative game that is a moving target. I don't have time for future re-plays once they've added all the other subsystems that were in the roadmap. I saw some posts that they may be cancelling some of that. But there's no clarity on if or what. When it first came out, I instabought it and played it for a dozen hours. Then saw that it was effectively a "released in development title" and would become a very different product down the line. I've been waiting since.

EDIT: Here was the roadmap: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/269190/view/3004445407067243576 "Summoning System" seems kind of big to leave for a future update, for instance.

are there any updates yet as to when, exactly, the final update of this game is expected to occur?

Or, failing that, then at least, is there any expected date for when the Roadmap features which they decided not to cancel (assuming they didn't cancel all of them) are all going to have been added into the game?

It's close to June 2023 and I still have no clue about what the answer to these questions are.

I could really use some specific clarity about how long I have to wait if I want to play the most complete version of this game that is going to exist at some point in the future.
They're still working on things. This is on Steam:

Since last November we have improved, reviewed and corrected many elements through the New Game + and the four Community Updates. The rhythm of the next updates will now be less regular. The next one, scheduled for June, will be a major content-rich update that will renew the game's narrative flow.

We are currently focusing on revamping the Lighthouse dungeon (available during Early Access) and preparing to release all updates on all platforms (consoles included). Although, we are targeting Q3 2023 for a release on all platforms, we hope to be able to announce a precise release date in the coming weeks.

In parallel to these many works, there are many surprises to come. We look forward to sharing them with you!
But nothing specifically about the roadmap in ages. I think it might have been mentioned "we can't keep that schedule" when they switched to and did those "community updates", but that was forever ago. But, hey, at least they been giving us the updates when they've done them.

EDIT: I've seen different roadmaps from them, too... Le sigh.

Thanks for the info.

I am still very unclear about this point:

mqstout: Although, we are targeting Q3 2023 for a release on all platforms,
Does that mean they are going to 100% conclude development on this game in Q3 2023, or just that they are releasing a particular update in Q3 2023?

And if they are not concluding development in Q3 2023, then when are they going to?
Another post over on Scam that there's another update that adds a new dungeon and another complete redo of the beginning of the game.
