HI I finally decided to buy Earth 2140 here after adding the version with working AI and now I finally decided to play it. It works fine but when there is some fighting going on the game slows down a lot, almost to crawl. Is it some way to correct this in DOSBox?
I tried to set cycles to max but it makes the game too fast and then after several seconds it starts to slow down again.
I accidentaly played the Win version and this doesn't occur there.

Resurrecting this topic. I'm curious whether people have managed to figure out a fix for this.
Same
Crazydaisy's son here(I feel awkward saying this like it is an announcement :\). I found possibly a temporary solution to the problem with the help of GOG support that has allowed me to play it without too much trouble. Go into dosboxE2140.conf wherever your Earth 2140 game is installed and set the 'cycles' settings for cycles=200000 cycleup=200000 cycledown=200000 OR cycles=200000 cycleup=10000 cycledown=10000. They both seem to work about the same to me but it makes it playable, as the slowdown is still there but negligible as if it were not there.

Bare in mind that you will need to set the 'in-game' settings under 'control' for the lowest setting of scrolling/scroll and the mid point for game speed.

A side effect to this is that, as far as I can tell it kills the intro movie's audio...the campaign movies 'seem' to work fine though. Unit responses seem to be fine but the 'Mission Accomplished' voices are a little staticy.

Until a better fix comes along...this seems to be it.

Hope this helps everyone who needs it. ^__________^

EDIT: Remember, if you want to check the intro's audio you have to wait until after the words finish rolling, as there is no sound while they are onscreen anyway, as far as I could tell.

How is the DOS version of Earth 2140 with the "enhanced A.I."? Does it run better than the main GOG version?
