I found a dagger called "Kris" which gives me "+5 soul stealing"

It adds an ability that lets your Hero regenerate 5 HP each time he kills a foe.

You can often find what the ability does by equipping the item then going to your hero screen and looking at the information under the stats area - there will be an icon that says soul stealing when you hover over it and it should explain what it does
