rahal: What actual problems are people having? Because I haven't seen any so far (playing through my first map).

Maybe I'm weird but I'm finding the ui ok (more intuitive in some ways) which was my main worry from posts here.
Guys, just thank you for your positive feedback. Really need some buff effects because of low stamina and moral :)
Omg...wasn't expecting the game to be such a mess =/
Trees appearing/disappearing constantly, combat is slow as f*k. Overall it really feels like an amateur game...much more than eador: genesis did. Eador genesis didn't have animation but the rest felt top notch (really reminded me of the heroes series level of finish, heroes II and III).
I'm really disappointed so far, i hope the game is improved fast because if it's not, i'll do anything i can to get a refund Oo

And i did pre-order the game because i liked genesis a lot...
I was really looking forward to play the game. And now I have to play the same old tutorial mission again with the same old story. I like Genesis, but I don't want the same game just with 3D-models! And the worst part is that the shortkeys that made playing Genesis a lot faster are now different or just missing. What about "m" -> forced marsh and "q" explore province and my all time best: the shortcut for the healer ability? Now if I want to heal a unit or close a window, I have to move the mouse all the way down to the edge of the screen. Yes, that sounds like biggering, but do that a few hundred times and you want to play Genesis again. This, the shattered build menu and the fact that the combat map is not at all as informative as in Genesis (plains look like hills, swamps look like plains etc and you can't see the movement points of your units without selecting them and and and) makes it hard for me to like Eador "2".

I will continue to play Genesis and hope that the new game will get as good to play as Genesis. And I really hope that this game will offer a new story/units/spells when I am coming back to it. Otherwise, I will be very upset.
I think scam is a strong choice of words but I understand why people feel protective of their game.

I also think that, sadly, its not uncommon for games to be released in an unfinished state. It's not just Paradox look at the recent release of Sim City and if you want to complain about DLC and micropayments well that's the way the market is going. I don't think anyone sets out to make a bad game but compromises are bound to happen whether than's time, money or technical challenges.

The key is whether the bugs are fixed and the game tidied up and I'd like to give the developers the benefit of the doubt.

I've only played 30 mins of the game after considerably longer on the original and I'm not quite sure its won me over (yet). As many have said much of the game is a cut and paste apart from the main graphics. Not sure if I'm pleased or not to see that the swords and armour are the same icons as the original.

The game does feel unpolished and while I don't mind the 'wheel' everything is too small and the original user interface did have a nice simplicity.

I knew I was buying a remake and 20 euros for a save function might be high but for me its the single best feature so far and almost worth the price of entry :)
Yup, I agree with that Standup. It was pretty clear from all the info what we'd be getting with the remake and I am happy enough with my purchase. Could it be better? For sure, but it does have some lovely graphics and animations. Not played far enough into the campaign to judge whether the streamlining will be a hit or miss, but things do seem to be unlocking much more quickly.
I haven't played to long yet only 30 minutes or so, and I haven't had any problems yet. I'm not sure I'm a fan of the wheels yet, especially for the heros. The building one isn't bad, but having to move the mouse to the hero when the other controls are at the bottom annoys me so far. Maybe it will grow on me. The graphics look great, but I do have to say I'm not sure that I don't prefer the old ones. This is because on the battle map I find it a little difficult to easily see the units.

I say this having only played Genesis for 20-30 hours, so it's not like its old habits dieing hard. Difficulty wise, it still seems the same and I'm still learning.

bossonova: Agreed. same here. so far, so good. I like the radial menus as well as it makes things easier in game.

Actuarian: I also agree. No bugs so far and I like the radial menus.
Same here, played Genesis for +/- 60 hours and I really like the upgrade. My 1,5 year old laptop has no problems of any kind running the highest settings.

I only found a small bug so far when displaying my hero, a shop or buying units. Then I miss a bit of the top of the screen.

I think it is more important to finish the development of the maingame before making compromises like spending the last money and time in developing a DLC.

Now I'll wait for the finished game before buying any DLC.

I also realised that the hero's weapon in combat is always the same. I eqipped an ogre club but the hero swung a sword. Is this normal in this genere?

Bugs I've met in ~10 hours of game play:

Cosmetic problems: a message contained a string something like "player.hero5" instead of hero name. Some skills with numbers (e.g. the parry crossed-swords icon with a little '4' in the corner) got garbage numbers (~8 digits worth.) Some shading on the world map is stripy.

A worked around problem: On 64-bit Vista, I did the installation from a non-admin account (supplying the admin password when required to), and chose the 'run game' option at the end. Played for a while. Exited the game (due to one of the game-killers listed below) and on rerunning, my user profile (and hence all that gameplay) had simply disappeared. Following a hunch, I found the files saved in the admin user's home directory. I copied them into the non-admin account and restarted, all seems to go OK.

Game killers: At least five times I've been in a cannot-continue-to-play state. Most recently, I had two very tough battles with no save opportunity between them (attack and counter-attack), then game becomes unresponsive (cursor moves, not much else.) I replayed taking slightly different options, so that I only fought one tough battle, then it crashed again. (Most recently, level 9 mage fought level 11 commander. Promoted to level 10, chose the mage/commander option. Also chose to keep a couple of summoned zombies. Game opens a provence event dialog and locks up, beeping on any mouse button push but nothing else. After alt-tabbing to escape, I find a small window reporting a bad pointer error. Previous time, after leveling the game returned to the battle display instead of the world and was unresponsive.)

Those are the worst two. On several previous occasions in the world map I've become unable to use some button or perform some action, but I have been able to save the game, exit and reload and have it work.
P.S. for those who haven't found it yet:

There is a bunch of very useful online information (i.e. all the stuff which should have been in the manual) available online in Russian, but it is mostly comprehensible via Google translate. The forum software isn't letting me post a link, so I need to obfuscate. The Russian page is http colon // eador.com / en / page3.html.

Souslov: Guys, just thank you for your positive feedback. Really need some buff effects because of low stamina and moral :)
I lose track of time playing this game and am very happy with my purchase. Kudos to the developers!

Hopefully they will fix the bugs and add promised features such as hotseat but I just wanted them to know that I really enjoy the game. =)
I must say that I liked Genesis and pre-ordered this game without thinking.

I really didn't know it was a remake, after all, that announcement sent by GOG was as follow:
"Eador: Masters of the Broken World is a long-awaited continuation to the phenomenal Eador: Genesis, a game dubbed to be the ultimate incarnation of the heroic, magical, and mighty turn-based strategy genre. The sequel improves the game's aesthetics dramatically, while retaining everything that the fans love about the gameplay. "

They talked about continuation, not remake...

I am quite disappointed by this mess.

(and yes, I think the game feels sluggish on my gaming laptop, the icons are too small and I liked the old UI better)
This is almost exactly what happened to me with the Stronghold 3 preorder a year or two ago (only then I paid $50). I suspected this would be the case again (a more expensive, very sub-par release with "fancy new 3d graphics"), but everyone including beta testers heaped so much praise on it...

I'm extremely disappointed by this purchase, and feel ripped off. I can't even play the damn thing even if I wanted to. Yes, the game has "unplayable" bugs. Anyone who claims otherwise either hasn't made it past the tutorial yet, or won the optimization lottery, as this game runs TERRIBLY on even most powerful computers
After Omerta and now this, doubt I will ever pre order anything again.

But look at the AAA producers as well the last Simcity was also a disaster on launch.

Yes, don't really know of any such game where the appearance would change.

For some reason I have a bunch of story entries in my journal after finishing the Tutorial. Spoilerific bug!
Apart from that nothing game breaking yet for me, just minor nuances.
