I know that choices made during 'events' effect your alignment, but what about choicesoutside of dialogue?

Which spells effect your alignment? (same for rituals, and is it use of those magics, your hero learning them, or building their associated structures?)
Which troops effect your alignment? (and is it using them, building their structure or both?)
Do alliances effect your alignment? (how about alliances with shard lords?)
Does any of the gear in game effect alignment? (and is it use, purchase or just ownership which triggers the effect?)

Also if there are any other actions/factors that I've overlooked please mention them as well.
Cheers,
Legion

ps ~ what determines how much of your morality is carried over from one shard to the next within the campaign?

I wish I knew :)
I generally just guess and it works well enough (saintly morality)
one thing of note, someone warned here on the forum that every time you cast summon undead/demon in battle it hurts your morality.
I have been avoiding all spells from the necromancy school

Spells: Exorcism is the only one with + to karma.
Necromancy and demonology almost all have -.
Triggers on use.

Troops - all non-neutrals. Trigger on recruiting, once per unit type

Gear - don't affect.

Alliance with races - depends on race (you can see their alighnment on their units)

With shard lords - don't have karma triggers, but have mood triggers.

to PS: around 80% from your total transfer from astral to shard.

White Magic is also + karma.

Treatment of neutral province defenders seems to have karma effects too. Attacking non-evil neutrals has negative karma tags, and so does dealing peacefully with evil neutrals. But then again, it *is* dialogue.

It is far too valuable though to conquer them for the XPs. I conquer every neutral and NEVER allow them to escape when they try to and still end up with max karma because I always take the + karma on EVERYTHING else
Yeah honestly I thought conquering provinces and troop alignment have nothing to do with your karma. Only casting the evil spells, evil rituals, looting provinces, and evil event choices affect your karma.

Troop alignments have their own associated penalties to their morale based on your own karma and alignment of other troops in their army, while conquering just affects the province's mood.

That's just what I've seen from playing the game anyways.
Additional question regarding morality,
Is there anywhere to see a tally of your current karma? (even an approximate one would be great to have).

:)

Thank you very much for all your information and responses :)
"Arise creature of darkness"

Does attacking leader without previous declaration affects your karma or opponents long term opinion of you?
I did it on last sahrd, becasuse I forgot we start at peace when we meet and then I was too lazy (*blush*), to cancel it and declare.
