From my understanding the score line the "Revisions" column is how many times you use the "Back to the Past" feature. Well for some reason the game seems to have a higher count then I have actually done. I've only used back to the past like 2 times in the campaign yet most shards I conquer seem to show 1-2 revisions which is negatively impacting my score.

Also what effect does score have on the overall campaign? It seems like it's getting added up in "Glory" but not sure if it really matters other than a high score board like most 4x games.

Did your game crash? Apparently that too counts as a reload or 'revision'.

For random battles, revisions simply impacts your score at the end which isn't that big a deal. In the campaign, you can trade 'glory' for 'astral energy' once you reach a certain threshold. You can then use energy to purchase additional perks at the start of a new shard like starting units, items, buildings, cash, gems or discounts on purchasing resources. That would help in later shards as the difficulty ramps up.

It's not really that big a deal - each revision is only 20 points, don't worry about it that much! Though I would be more worried about your computer if you keep getting so many crashes and power outages! :D

This was something that happened to me during the Spring & Winter sometimes. The are I live in kept getting the power nocked out. Ounce it was out for 3 days. Even when power was on my net was down most of the time so was playing offline games like Eador.

The game does crash from time to time. But it's not my computer crashing or power outages, so I simply reload the game and do a continue.

If it only register's exit save as "valid" and not the other auto save times then it's likely something in the code on how the game files are saved. Some toggle that when any save is loaded without the toggle checked it loads the game and adds +1 to the revision.

Yea it does suck for it punishing us for crash issues. Though I suppose you could always "correct" it with a memory editor program.

I mostly play on the laptop so power outages don't matter that much; though we rarely have one.

The only way to avoid revisions is to save and exit. I think it's a pretty nifty feature, I rarely suffer from crashes in Genesis so most of my revisions are roll backs where it is worth the hit to score especially when I have made mistakes. I rarely go back in time for random events.

Since "glory" is 99% bragging rights, losing 20 points (and the "strategist/tactician" bonus when you managed to pull one of these) is not so important. sure, later in the game you can convert them to energy, but you should already have a steady supply of it, enough to buy a few items for tricky shards like the invasions.

And I must confess that before I knew that cutting off the game would be counted as a reversion, most of my "technical problems" were me using the task manager to try to get a "free" reversion by killing the game after I stupidly got my main army slaughtered.
So I like this feature. Keeps me honest ;)

I suspect that is the primary reason behind the reversion logic! I have since then really gotten to like games which don't offer saves - it really increases the involvement as every decision can have permanent consequences.

FTL, Rogue Legacy and Unepic are simply more enjoyable because of this element alone... though FTL is the only one with permanent death, the others do allow you to restart except you may need to redo a lot of work!
