I've tried both work around fixes listed here on the forum and it still doesn't work. It boots up but its nothing but a black screen with music in the background. If I minimize and then maximize the game, the main menu will appear but my mouse cursor won't move at all. I eventually have to ctrl-alt-delete in order to close the game. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit laptop. The game didn't cost much but ultimately it seems it was a waste of money.

It's a long shot, but what is the native resolution on your laptop?

Genesis requires at least 1024x768 to run, so dimensions less than 1024 wide and/or 768 high might cause this.

You're most welcome. That's the same resolution on mine and Genesis runs pretty well on it stock, although it's really rough on power consumption without a CPU throttler.

You wouldn't happen to have Intel HD graphics on that laptop, would you? It looks like the same symptoms have been reported here on GOG before and the solution is to install a specific release of the Intel HD drivers from October 2012.

I believe this (64 bit) and this (32 bit) are the drivers that they are referring to. Of course you'll want to verify that these are correct for your system. Hope this helps!

Thanks again for the help. I've got an Nvidia Geforce GT555M. Well the newest version of the game is coming out in April so I guess I'll just wait for that. I don't normally have any issues running games on my laptop. Oh well. Looks like a fantastic game.

1) You can switch over to the GT555M exclusively in your BIOS, bypassing the Intel HD issue.
2) Install the 64 bit Intel HD driver from October 2012 that I posted earlier.

Either of those should fix your problem.

I have the same problem. Switching between Intel HD and Nvidia Geforce GT555M in Bios is not possible.
Today I got the latest Geforce driver loaded and it's not working...
I'm curious how o solve the problem.

And another. Either I get a black full screen with music, or I get a super-sluggish windowed screen. Tried throttling, config file, the launcher fix, all of it. No joy.

Maybe getting it to work IS the game. In that case, I've been "playing" for about three hours now, though I can't say it's particularly enjoyable. Tough AI - really has me stumped.
