Recently found a few eggs on the Campaign, not to far into it, on the 3rd or 4th shard, i found tried using a slug egg but gave up and ended finishing the shard. Now i'm on another shard and found a spider egg and a basilisk egg. What do i need to raise eggs in general?

As far as I know the only way is to find a shard with the plans for a Trappers Guild and build that in your Stronghold before you're able to actually use any eggs.

I believe this is accurate. It's additionally worth noting that they can be turned in as part of certain quests and that most of them are NOT first level units so make sure your accounting for that when you recruit them.

Yup. Even if you don't yet have the ability to use the eggs yourself, there's the possibility of a random event coming along where you can use them. I don't know how common it is, compared to say the plagues or the Inquisitors (Damn I hate those guys. Any way to get rid of them? D: ), but a Monstrologist came along and asked if I wanted to sell the Giant Slug Eggs I had in my treasury. Offered two items, some gems, or some gold. I went for the items because he was offering the last part of the Incineration set.

So worth keeping around just in case, even if you can't use them.
yeah if i get monster eggs i always keep as least one of each kind in the treasury - just for those random events - and some of the store quests need them too (there is a knowledge store quest where you can get a summon phoenix scroll in exchange for a spider egg- thats what i call a bargain ^^
and in a jewelry store you can get a rather nice amulet or ring in exchange for a basilisk egg)

Awwww yea, just got that event and had a spider egg waiting on my other hero. Just had to transfer it over to my wizard who had like level 4 or 5 summoning. After that quest that rest of the shard was just a slaughterfest. :P
Pfft you don't know how much I'd give for luck like that in my games. I think someone mistranslated something and Beginner is actually one of the more difficult levels, because I can't ever make it past my second shard. The moment another Master shows up everything goes to hell for me. Sure, I've gotten better in the three days of non-stop playing, but it's still rough. I've never once beaten the first Master you come across (I'm pretty sure it's always that guy that informs you about the law of karma), but the third time around I came really damn close. Very close. I thought I got real lucky in having four Gargoyles recruited into my party, but he's running around with Tier 2 units and obviously better equipment, and ended up driving me out >_>

hmmm that shouldn't be - once you met oinor try conquering some tiny shards - hopefully with a local lord instead of Oinor - and then just warrior/scout rush to his castle and build outpost around it - thats what i did on the early shards - later when you have shards with him and a local lord - or another aste - just make sure to have peace with one of them
Mm... Yeah I tried to do that recently but I figure I messed up somewhere because I did so terrible XD
Was getting only a few gold per turn and the only Plains nearby were guarded by inquisitors.

Sometimes I do better than others, but it's when Oionor shows up that things go downhill for me. The local lords are usually just annoying at worst. Before this (failed) attempt at a shard, I was in a shard with him and a local lord. He gifted me stuff from time to time, asked me for something, then when he defeated the other lord, turned on me.

Which brings me to ask, is there any sort of permanent diplomacy in this game? I was taking a peek at the dialogue one of the masters has to say (The one I'm using as my icon in the game, and his flag too - but a different color) and some of the things he had to say seemed like the other masters may willingly give up a battle for a shard like you can, and seemed to congratulate you on conquering a common foe with him. He's Neutral, having 0 Karma (While Oioron has 100), so I figure I might be able to ally with him someday assuming the game allows it and the Diplomacy screen isn't there just to temporarily pacify the named Masters for a few turns :P

Buuut that's going off the topic of how to use eggs though, isn't it? ^_^
How to use eggs :
- first, build the trappers'guild in your forest quarter : it's the second upgrade available for the initial foresters' guild (foresters->pathfinders->trappers' guild)
- transfer the eggs into your hero's inventory
- from the recruitment screen drag the eggs to empty rank 2 slots in your hero's army.

For more powerful eggs you need higher level buildings. Golem Ingots and Phoenix Eggs, for example. If you're in the early stages of the campaign you won't have access to those buildings yet.

I love those Phoenix eggs...

There are also other eggs, like Hydra and Manticore Eggs. And Dragon Eggs, of course. Having a dragon in your army is fun, to say the least.
