Alpa footage looks great, BTW, get lots of Tyrian vibes. Although it feels kinda ironic you decided against using 3D yourself :).
Well...i enjoy programming 3D stuff but the problem is that you need assets. Building 3D models and animations is something i've never done and would probably take ages for me to do.

And the 3D assets in eador look great, i remember being impressed when seeing the first screens. Too bad the bugs make it such a chore to play for me right now, i'm still hoping for patches anyway.

yaang: Game isn't in a bad shape though, haven't encountered any bugs so far myself.
Really now. How about the whole quest journal in the Astral view being unlocked from the start?

You are right, it's a bug. It should be fixed.
If this is the only bug a person is having, it is possible they don't feel the game is bugged.
It is very subjective how important that bug is and how much it will influence a persons game.

Are you kidding me. Such a bug is very easy to spot and speaks of gross negligence on the part of the dev team.

And given that this game has a great story, I don't see how anyone could see having it completely spoiled from the start as anything else than a grave problem. In any case, there is a number of other game-breaking bugs (that are not hardware-dependent, either), anyone pretending the game is fine hasn't played long enough to encounter one. They'll bite their lips later on.

I agree it should be fixed.
What does that bug do, besides being cosmetic?

Listen, I'm not saying bugs are cool, or bugs are ok. But perhaps we should focus on the game-breaking ones?
I personally don't care for cosmetics one, and that was my point. Cosmetic bug doesn't break my game.

Other bugs that do break the game are imo bad and should be fixed as quickly as possible. I'm not defending those bugs and their existence.

I just want to focus on the game-breaking stuff, that is all. And some people are so lucky they only have the cosmetic bugs, so in their eyes the game is probably fine. Those with game-breaking bugs are rightly frustrated (of course they are!) and don't think they game is doing fine. Both groups are right, seen from their own point of view.

Being spoiled on the content of the campaign's story is not a "cosmetic bug". Why do you think some forums ban people for posting spoilers?

I've avoided reading more when I realized what the journal was, but I'm already very unhappy to know about a major plot element in advance, as well as a few other details. For someone who has never played at least the beginning of Eador Genesis and reads the whole thing assuming it's some kind of introduction or reminiscence, it can (and probably already has for several people) completely ruin the story.
Just in case some of you missed the developer's reply to a half-baked game, here it is:

Hello guys.

First of all, we want to sincerely apologize for the difficulties many of you encountered upon the game release. We're very sorry to let you down and we're doing our best to fix the most critical problems of the game as soon as possible.

Eador. MotBW is the first big project for our small team and clearly we were not completely ready for the international release. Seeing how many problems are caused by the difference in PC configurations, we realize that we should have tried to go with the 'Early Access' option first. Unfortunately, we couldn't foresee the current outcome back in January when the game was greenlit to be on Steam.
In the next few days we'll fix the the siege and story progression bugs, add 'hotseat' mode and an option for private matches in the multiplayer. A more detailed list of the upcoming fixes will be posted on this board on Monday.
We'll also be adding a 60 page guide with a detailed units, heroes and skills description in addition to the current manual next week.
The studio is keeping track of your reported technical issues so constructive feedback is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Snowbird Games.

This is after they get all our money ofcourse. it would have been nice to hear this before I preordered the game weeks ago.
At this stage, I think those who want to see a glass half-empty will see a glass half-empty and those who want to see a glass half-full will see a glass half-full. Numerous other titles from studios 5x this large have been released in just as bad shape.

The game was obviously launched early, for whatever reason. The devs have released two patches, which fix a number of things (including the Story Spoiler, which was a big mistake). But even the patching process has been uneven and haphazard.

We'll know more in a few weeks. If they can fix the graphic performance issues that affect some people (not affecting me), root out other significant bugs (there are still a good number), and install full-blown Multiplayer for the campaign game, this'll be an awesome update of Genesis. If they do everything but MP, it'll still be a darn good single-player fantasy TBS. If they don't do any of these things, it'll be a sad miss.

Mostly, though, they just had a sloppy launch. Which happens to more titles than I suspect most of us realize.
I'm rooting for this game. It has a lot of good concepts. But I'm more in the wait and see mode before diving in for a purchase. I've done that with too many games and got burnt and frustrated from the outcome.

Sometimes, developers will reward the risk takers. Stardock rewarded all the early buyers of Magic War of Elemental (which was a game that could never be fixed) with a free game, Fallen Enchantress, and then another free game, its stand alone expansion, Fallen Enchantress, Legendary Heroes.

When developers do this, you know they value their top supporters.

Update, my friend just gifted the game to me through Steam. So I guess I'll now play it regardless. He said he wants me to try it out and see just how buggy it is. LOL
