There's 1.7.0 already.

GOG still has 1.6.5.

Patching timing is always a problem on GOG, alas.

EDIT: He-he, one my word can change the World. I'm almighty!

Is it worth it, though? I am on an old patch because every subsequent one just adds more bugs.

That's because GOG don't let developers push changes, but instead review and repack themselves, a process that require a human action. And, as far I get, there not too many humans at that. So it may take weeks in some cases.

It's somewhat questionable is that good or bad, it make things slow, but, at least in theory increase security and user experience once the chance is finally out.
But anyway, that's just how things are around here.
After about 10 hours of playing with the new patch, my verdict is: didn't help much, if at all. It still crashes, and it feels like it crashes just as often as it used to.
After even more playing, I can confirm: the game's stability didn't just not improve, but it actually got somewhat worse.
So for the person encouraging GOG to implement this patch - THANK YOU FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, DUDE.
yes the game is crap and does not work so play for a while until you hit the crash then put better system specs in and play another shard before it falls over, leaking to death.

hay guys "we just added new spell with pretty blue lights and a hero with boobs" = who the fuck cares
There is still the very old bug where in battle a unit dies but is still blocking his hexe with zero HP.
It can (always?) prevent from finishing the battle.
It's with a clean install with the last patch a month ago.

Yep. The workaround that bug (doesn't work always, but mostly) is to go to the game menu and select "quick combat" which then ends with a victory.

It does not always work: I was defending a fort, and my infantry died at the entrance, blocking all the battle which could not resolve by any mean. I had to kill the game.

My version in Windows 8 did not crash at all, but the game was unbalanced as hell, a dead alley quickly, and the AI would just keep itself equidistant, no way to achieve an advantage. That laptop was robbed from me, now I am yet to reinstall in Windows 10 and restart, but I get the notification of UPDATE and that is all, not even the date the update s up. One game was an update just because it added a new language, useless. If it was short diff files... but having to download everything cause nothing is marked as update is overkilling!!! I only have one connection able to download, all others say it will take twelve hours or more and fulfills the promise...

Wait, you have NO crashes with MoBW?
DID not have. No longer, now I have a standard windows 10 installation and have not played the game, but indeed, I cannot remember any crash with GOG games in Windows 8, only some DOSBOX games crashing predictably.

So I guess I should try to run MotBW on Win 8. Because MotBW not crashing is a miracle and I don't believe in miracles.
I do not understand, was not Eador: Genesis ANIMATED FIGURES in combat? I did not download it again that I remember, I used the distribution backup to reinstall it in this new Windows 10. BUT I AM GETTING A RIGID FIXED FIGURES COMBAT GAME!!! I remember very well the Zombies made me laugh like crazy once, that a stray click moved the zombie on its own and it went jerking just under my eye horizon line like it was an uninvited old granny. This game loses a lot without animated figures! Or is it that Broken World does use animation and Genesis does not? I am very wary of changes to my files and I have just lost a LOT of files to criminals at the start of the year.

I do a lot of tweaking with my system and do not tremble when it comes to kill processes, so it may be the reason my system is more sturdy and solid than most, though I am not yet recovering from an attack on my Bluetooth installation.
