bossonova: straight from the man himself. I already knew that but I wanted to see what others knew first.. lol see this is why I love gog and many others do to.
Come on, its not like they test the gameplay fixes of the new patch. But they obviously have to test it to make sure its working with their unique installer version.

yeah ok. now lets put words in gog`s mouth.
Just common sense, why would it matter to them if the patch fixes "Karma transfer from the shard map to the astral" or "Updated prices for units, spells and items. "

I don`t know i`m not gog so I can`t know and neither can u. maybe its common sense that it matters to them what the patch fixes since they fix the patch. makes more sense. gog has more of a reputation then snowbird to protect so why would they just release any old patch that they would get from snowbird under their name at the risk of not dotting all their i`s and crossing all of their t`s and having this small company dragging gog`s name through the mud as well. now that is what you would call common sense.

comon sense > Bossonova

Only he is allowed to "put words in gog's mouth". I know that's not nice but dude makes my head explode. Argh!

Actuarian: What implication? Do you actually think that GOG tests the patches they get from developers? They might do a virus check, but I would be extremely shocked if they try to install the patches much less playtest them.
avatar
TheEnigmaticT: Pro tip: we do test all patches before they are pushed to our servers. ;)
Pro question: how extensively do you test the patches? Forgive me for being pessimistic, but I really doubt you do something more than
"virus scan passed - check"
"game can still run after patch - check"
"No obvious graphical/sound problems - check"

Please tell me I'm wrong an if so - just how much more do you do. Cause I'm not sure about testing the patches, but no one clearly tested the game when it was put up on gog. After my first hour of gameplay I had already made a buglist with 8 entries.

So please forgive me, but I really doubt you guys are more trustworthy than the devs. Not when it comes to this game for sure.

Well that`s not nice. lol you know to answer your question why don`t you ask gog, makes sense to me as opposed to insulting people here with no answers just guesses. or better yet apply for a job with gog. they can call you the Jerk off reminder. lol

Unless you think the developers are russian mafia/communists out to drain your bank details/precious bodily fluids then wtf is this about?

How do you cope with the umpteen other autopatching applications you have on your system?

Why is this even an issue for you? Is your pc mission critical for something... I dunno... your underground vault or alien/muslim defense system or ... ???

We knew the game was going to launch buggy. I gave the developer the benefit of the doubt and, currently, I feel my trust was born out exactly precisely because they are patching frequently. That's what I wanted to see. I am not understanding where you are coming from.

To really be worried about this you need to get to the strange place where you think Snowbird patches are more potentially dangerous to your computer than just being on the internet in the first place.

Also, some of the patch notes were wrong, like the first time they claimed they had the windowed mode working. Why didn't the crack team of GOG patch testers catch that one? :)

I am asking properly and nicely, it's you who isn't reading. I'll bold it for you.

As for "insulting you"... I just see no point in discussing that. I believe it's a blessing but a curse as well that EVERYONE has a computer nowadays.Besides, you've insulted me like three times already? Not enough?

now your just trying to be a troll but your not good enough at it. nice try though. and no I have read it and I don`t test patches and neither do you. what`s your point mine is to stop acting like your all holier then thou and if you want to act like gog then join the team already, jerk off the reminder. lol
I dunno guys, this seems a really silly thing to have strong opinions about. But, by all means, carry on...
Come on guys you are arguing and trolling each other over nothing :) It does not worth it. I don't care what GOG or Snowbird do with their patches as long as the game is gonna be okay.

@Bossonova

Just my opinion but you really are, if not insulting but speaking very harsh.

Agreed, and I shall stop all that right now. for sure.

Actuarian: Thank you - unexpected response, good to know and much appreciated.

I'm curious how often you find something that causes you to reject a patch and what types of problems you find.
It is not very common, as I understand it. Mainly, they look to see if it makes things worse than the previous version. This is obviously not very often the case.
