It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

But we learned - you're giving a link to whatever "1.0.3" file on god knows what site while without any description.
IMO that deserves an instaban even if your file is not a malware.

Instead of testing what's in your file, ppl should just go in their game installation folder (for example in my case it's D:\GOG Games\Eador 2) and run UPDATE.EXE. It'll patch the game to 1.0.3.

No good deed goes unpunished.....I think that in 2013 everyone knows the risks associated with downloading files uploaded by individuals. They can make their own decisions whether or not to download.

The UPDATE.EXE apparently isn't working for everyone. This link gives them another option.

I just updated from official serves no problem, but just for those that have them, this "unknown, potentially harmful download" seem to be the exactly the same as original update zip. (didn't compare files directly as updater deleted it too fast but, i checked the zipped files with updated ones and they match 100%)

I had the same error. I unistalled the game (keeping saves) and installed from gog setup again. Launched it and let it auto-update (It updated to version 1.0.1 first and then to 1.0.3).

This is what I had to do - from the Snowbird Games site. Manually install patch 1.01 and 1.02. Patch 1.02 updates the patch.exe program. Then I ran patch.exe from the game folder and it updated to 1.03. If you are the trusting sort you can download the patches using links from this forum or from the Snowbird site forum. I downloaded from the Snowbird forum links. Good luck.
Installed 1.0.1 running the update.exe from the Eador folder and then the game auto-updated to 1.0.3 although I'd reinstalled the whole game prior to this. Trying to update to 1.0.3 using the maual update saw it hang on unpacking the data files. Didn't see a 1.0.2 using any method.

Doesn't seem to be any consistent method to getting this to work :(

So it looks like its patched but is there anywhere within the game to see the version number?

Standup: ... is there anywhere within the game to see the version number?
Main menu, bottom right.
You can see the version number in the down right corner. I had the same problem. The updater downloaded the update 1.0.2 and .3 but it got stuck while unpacking them. That lead to a version where 1.0.2 was displayed but the game was lacking campaign icons etc.

But I found an Eador file in c:/users/"username"/documents/eador/incoming. Inside was the 1.0.3 zip. The updater was only unpacking 3 files but there are way more inside. I just unpacked the file into my Eador 2 file and everything is working like a charm. I really hope they will fix that (and I need an option to make the battle start music less noisy!). I hope this helps you...
Thanks again, reminder!

I'm a fan of both GOG and Snowbird, but at the moment, I've very disappointed in both of them.

In any case, 1.01 ran smoother, and so far 1.03 seems to be running smooth as silk. I play skirmish rather than campaign, so my big problem has been jerky animations, seems to be much better now :)

Numerous responses on the Snowbird forum--as well as personal confirmation on my side--that the 3 files Reminder has provided are in fact links to files posted by Snowbird. And they do update the version # displayed in the lower right corner. And they even passed my "virus scan" test! :-)

However, at this point if you just uninstall (opting to keep all Saved Games) and reinstall, the auto-updater kicks in fine and seems to do everything it's supposed to., taking me up to version 1.0.3 Like Reminder, I was having problems with the "Can not Establish a Connection" error earlier, but it seems to be fixed now (for me, at least).

FWIW, I didn't have to disable my anti-virus software to do it. So everybody should Install and Update away! (I hope...)

You are always free not to download it. Or use an antivirus which would instantly block malware. Or use https://www.virustotal.com/en/ which checks files for viruses. Choices, choices.

I did not upload it on mediafire cause I had internet problems and it kept crashing at about 60%. Why the damn thing doesn't resume uploads is beyond me. So I googled up a free no-registration file host. My bad, it seems.

Anyway, I don't wonder why I was the first to upload the 1.01 and 1.03 patches. It must've been because of people like you who discourage any help to others. Instaban for an unknown source? You, sir. are a disgrace to humanity.

PS. it seems that the patcher is FINALLY fixed (or at least I hope so). if it isn't, I'll just upload the next one ASAP. Idiots are NOT encouraged to download.
I think its just good practice not to download anything from an unknown or untrusted source. Virus and malware checkers help but they;re not 100% accurate.

Man... For sure antivirus is godlike piece of software.

In the meantime, there are patches on the official snowbird site in case your update.exe still ain't working:
http://www.snowbirdgames.com/files/eador/updates/inline/1.0.1.zip
http://www.snowbirdgames.com/files/eador/updates/inline/1.0.2.zip
http://www.snowbirdgames.com/files/eador/updates/inline/1.0.3.zip
http://www.snowbirdgames.com/files/eador/updates/inline/1.0.4.zip

Snowbird won't preach you about AV software.
