Well, first post on a GOG forum, I have to say these forum are ---infinitely--- more mature than on steam.

I am hoping some one will be nice enough to suggest whether it's worth me taking the plunge on the game or not!

Firstly, I like open world games with lots of post game-play and I have been trying to find a good time-sink game
to play.

I don't 'normally' buy 18 rated games because of all the blood and gore in them, with exceptions if it's there for immersion and part of the games make-up which is the only thing that might hold me back from buying it, if the gore in this game is just there 'because', I am thinking it looks like it makes sense in this game! (which would be ok for my personal taste).
(just an edit to clarify i'm not in any way hyper sensitive, it's just a taste thing)

Love survival games and the opportunity to interact with other gamers... and the fact of having a modern title on GOG is tempting.

I don't want to buy it for the story so would that affect the value of the game for me? I just want to chill out and kill zombies for laughs, mess about in an open world every now and then and return to it in bits and pices over time.

What's the multiplayer like, is the zombie mode like 'invasions' on watchdogs where you enter other peoples worlds to hunt them down, or do you have to accept/enter a lobby ect?

How easy is it to cooperate with others and does GOG have people playing? I would definitely like to do this if it's easy to find people even if it means posting on the forum for a group in advance.

I was going to buy a couple of cheap games on GOG this weekend (like x albion and RCT 1 but I already have X rebirth so)... but this looks very tempting frankly.

Probably wouldn't pay 39.99 to take the risk but 26.99 is very tempting.

mm not sure what i'm asking really because I know nothing about the game other than there was a little bit of hype over it when it was new.

Worth or pass?

p.s forgot to ask. Do people play legit or is there lots of cheating going on online?

I played the complete story on nightmare difficulty first. I found it very immersive.
Dismembering may be some unrealistic, though it is not that easy on nightmare. There may also be too much blood coming out of zombies (probably depends, if their hearts are still beating or not)

I started to search for coop-games 2 weeks ago, I rarely find any game to join. (I found other players four times and could play 2-player coop).

I'm not sure about the reason. Maybe it is a connection issue, low amount of players, different game progress or different legend levels.

It's worth it. I don't know if you played the demo available on Steam because it gives you a good introduction to the game.

Now, if you're looking for something like modding through the developer tool, this isn't available in this version (yet).

I can't tell you so much about multiplayer and how active is it (I played Dying Light in single player only).

There is a lot of gore, but I don't think it's out of place in a game like this. You can cut off heads and limbs, heads explode and brain matter goes everywhere when you smash a head with a hammer, and stuff like that. There is also a lot of ravaged corpses around. I'm not sure if you would think there is too much of it, but you can see some videos on YouTube and see if it's okay.

Definitely don't buy it for the story. The voice-acting is cheesy, and the story is nothing special. The story missions are good fun though, even though I didn't pay attention to what it was about :)

The multiplayer is focused on co-op. It's the same as the single player-game, but up to three others can join in and co-operate. The first part of the game (tutorials and such, takes an hour or so) has to be played through alone, but after that, you can play the entirety of the game's content with your friends. I don't know how the multiplayer is handled in the GOG-version, but when I played it on Steam, I could invite my friend to a private lobby, or I could have a public lobby where anyone could join. There is some other multiplayer-mode as well, called Be The Zombie, but I never played it.

Mulitplayer is minimal, could just be the game or galaxy, i dont know but im not a multiplayer fan myself, with strangers that is... the open world is pretty good, gotta advance to a certain part till it opens I do enjoy the jump from city to open planes and buggies :)

if you want a fun zombie killing whatever game then H1Z1 might be more for you; i've heard good things about dead rising 2 as well. But once you get into the game and the world opens up you just run around and kill zombies and level up skills. you are forced into certain areas until your skills open up a little. Dying Light is pretty damn good and its fun to just log in and hunt zombies for awhile and jump out :)

as for the gore though.. its not to horrible it can be over the top.. and there are some "xray" effects but all in all it makes sense. There is a skill where you rub dead zombie parts on you to "blend in" so yeah it can get gross.. but it fits.

Hate to post late, but this game might be an issue for you if you don't like gratuitous gore for gore's sake, while the gore fits well for the context of this game (It's hard to gauge your gore threshold as it's not an issue for me) I'm also guessing that child-like zombies might be very stressful for you, as for some, that's much more upsetting than gore...

But it might not be for you though, so if not then go ahead, also the child-like zombies are pretty terrifying from what I've read!
Oh, and the maturity levels are just right for a bunch of gray-bearded gamers like us, you'll love it here!

If you think you know then your not even close... its much worse... Really well done part of the game, and I'm happy to see it address that situation so many ignore.

Not me, as I'm pretty much at the age where it's no longer thrilling a concept as I'm looking towards my own mortality every year that passes, and your perspective changes as you get older, which is why I have such a soft spot for millennials and kids in general...So it's safe to say I won't be looking forward to that part of the game.
