If this is due to the Galaxy API then I am downright angry since I don't use Galaxy anyway and don't play multiplayer.

It's probably due to licensing issue.

It's common for Linux ports to be developed by third parties who also get distribution rights.

This has happened before though, from what I know, Dying Light for Linux is developed in-house by techland so there should be no issues regarding distribution rights.

You seem to be contradicting yourself massively.

Distribution involves licensing if the distributor is not the developer and/or producer.
In the case of techland there should be no licensing issues since they made the game including the Linux port.
However, they segmented the distribution which makes you think whether or not gog couldn't manage to get a license to distribute the game.

tl;dr: Licensing is not the same as distribution.

In any case and if I understand you correctly, I think you are missing the point. If there is a distribution rights issue, then there is a licensing issue and vice versa. The point is that just because GOG have the license/the distribution rights for the Windows version that doesn't mean they have the license/distr. rights for the Linux version.

The reason they didn't add the linux version here probably because the steam linux version of this game have so many bugs. you can see it yourself in the steam discussion forum

Yup yet again no linux, seems like I keep spending more on steam then I want to.
Wow so much for GOG, When I first heard of GOG I was so happy.
Then when they started with linux games I was REALLY happy. I was finally able to drop my windows pc.
But the trend of windows only copies on GOG has stopped me from buying games here and more on Steam since they have more linux games. WTF GOG you guys are going down hill and I really enjoyed DRM free and like supporting your cause. Until then I guess I'm another lost customer. O well. :(

GOG, if you need help developing galaxy for Linux, then f*cking open-source it! Don't treat your Linux customers like second class citizens-

But they do: Exactly this is the conclusion. They don't really bother with Linux. If the concurrent game has a binary for Linux: Perfect! Then there will by be perhaps a shell-installer for download. Otherwise they don't really bother with Linux because their so-called optional game-client is more important. If Linux as platform would be really important they would also release "Metro", "Tropico 5" and many more games we are waiting now more than a year for.

I got a reply from support about the Linux version a couple of days ago: So, nothing we didn't already know.

The problem I have with your attitude is that it assumes the blame is on GOG and not Warner Bros. Given their vague response it's impossible to know why they are unable to release Dying Light's Linux version on GOG. It very well may be GOG's fault but until someone has the stones to give an actual answer it's up for debate.

It is also not true that any Linux gamers shouldn't buy from GOG. I prefer DRM free games. I prefer to actually own my games. There are Linux games on GOG. By your logic even if a game I wanted had the Linux version available on GOG I should "purchase" the game from Steam instead out of protest for Dying Light and others like it. That doesn't make any sense to me.
