So I just recently upgraded and Dust is CTD on start up. Is there some comparability issues or something?

This game is one of the ones GOG apparently wasn't able to reliably get working on Windows 10, seeing as how they don't officially support its use on the new OS.

Is there anything I can do? I don't really want compensation I want the game to work. Is the dev working on a patch? Should I just wait?

Don't know. I haven't heard any details, and I haven't upgraded to 10 myself, so I can't help with ideas of what tricks might make it run better. Since you don't want a refund, waiting is probably the best bet. In the case of this game, I doubt the developer will just let the game stay in an unplayable state; after all, it's not very old yet, and very highly regarded, and -- if fixed for the new Windows -- could yet make him a fair bit more money. On the other hand, from what I've heard, it was pretty much a one-man development team, so -- depending on how busy he is with other stuff right now, it might be a bit of a wait for him do get such a fix done.

I would also advise browsing through this MaGog search results list to see what other GOG games you might own are not supported on Win 10 right now. I used this info to apply a custom "Not supported on Windows 10" tag to all games in my GOG game library that are on the list. Hopefully, the list will shrink as GOG (in the case of some of the older games) and the game developers (in the case of some of the newer ones) are able to find ways to make these titles compatible with 10.
Just tried Dust on my Windows 10 machine and it seems to work fine.

Sounds like it's a very specific issue.

Doesn't seem specific to me. I'm getting instant CTDs when I try to start it myself. Every other game I've tried so far works just fine.

Not exactly sure what happened. It simply didn't start now that I rebuilt my computer. Maybe it's an issue with a 64-bit OS

It did worked perfectly on a 32 bit Windows 10.
I FOUND IT!!!!

I found out how to stop the crashes and allow the game to be played.

You simply have to reinstall XNA Framework Redistributable (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27598). Apparently, the game was developed with it (back when it was an Xbox 360 exclusive) and the version bundled in some copies of Windows 8 and 10 are corrupted.

Just tried it and the game now works.

Thanks. It worked for me. Thanks for the research and finding the fix.
Aside from the common XNA 4.0 redistributable.
The cause can be as was my case if you have Nvidia cards and multiple monitors.
This game is not designed beyond 2048x2048 resolution capability. Nvidia drivers do not work like AMD with XNA in how the resolution is determined and causes it to CTD or just fail to launch period. If you disable SLI Nvidia surround multiple monitor support to one screen it will launch.

I have dual Nvidia 980 ti with triple screens on Windows 10 pro latest updates and it would not even launch with errors in application event log stating kernelbase.dll error exception (detail said system.notsupportexception but this is an indicator like a general error only. My issue was multiple monitor resolution being unsupported.
Dust works completely fine for me on Windows 10, and I did not need to do anything special to make that happen. I just installed the game and ran it, that's it.
