It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

I've tried both joining and hosting a Direct IP game, but for some reason it never connects. I made sure to port forward 7777 and 47777 via UDP, but the other player could not see my server. When another player would try to host, I could not see the game either.

In the console, I tried both connect and connect localhost and then entered the IP afterwards, but the game still wouldn't connect. Should I be using different ports?

You will not be able to see games in your lobby browser unless they are local, or received games. That said, 7777 is the only port required to forward. As for connecting to an ip someone is hosting on the command is specifically:

connect "xxx.xxx.x.xxx"

yes, the ip address must be in quotes. You should have no problem using that method.

The quotes worked! Thanks!

Also, would it be possible to have the ability to copy and paste the IP address in the console?
Doesn't work for me. I open the console (on my German keyboard it's Ö for whatever reason), then I type connect "host ip adress" and hit enter. Nothing happens. Port 7777 UDP is open.

If you are hosting a game, you simply just need to press create game in the menu, as long as 7777 is open, players can connect to you by typing into console:

connect "xxx.xxx.x.xxx"
I'm the one trying to join while someone else is hosting. But I can't join because nothing I type into the console works.

Sounds like the person hosting may not have 7777 open on his machine!

He does have that port open.
