notsofastmyboy: That PoD and DKQ hadn't been released for the C64 really bummed me out back in the day. It wouldn't have been as bad if at least one of them had been available for the C64 so that I could have finished at least one of these series. I still got to finish them some time later when I bought a used Amiga 500 (which crapped out after five months), and bought various collections once I had a PC. Still good times, though.
I loved my A500. Bought it new from a mail order company (there were few retailers in my area that carried the Amiga) in 1990 and had it through about 1995 or 1996. Didn't get too many of the Gold Box games for it at the time because of limited income and relatively few places that carried software for it. But I did have quite the collection of games for it nonetheless - including Pool of Radiance, the two Eye of the Beholder games (EoB 3 never made it to the Amiga) and the Bard's Tale series. No hard drive for it, so playing games like Wizardry 6 was a lesson in patience... =)
I recently picked up Cloanto's Amiga Forever emulator and used it to recreate my A500. I did add a few things mine didn't have - like a hard drive image and the full 8 MB expanded RAM - mine had an expansion card with 3 MB on it. It was a great computer for tinkering with since there were so many different upgrades and such for it. I downloaded the Gold Box games for it and I'm hoping to figure out how to install all of them on the hard drive image in order to play around with them again.
