I have been playing this game for some time with no issues at all. Recently while playing the game
locked at the first cut scene in of the first campaign, the one with the floating boat just before
you select a champion. I had to do a ctrl-alt-del and force a shutdown of the game from task
manager. Since then I cannot start any campaigns. It freezes at the same spot each time with
either just a game cursor or a black screen. I had been playing the game for a couple of weeks
prior with no issues. My system is more than adequate for the requirements of the game:

AMD quad core processor
AMD HD 7850 video card
256gb ssd
2 160gb ssd's in raid 0
1 3tb seagate hard drive
16GB ram
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

What I have tried to resolve the issue is the following:

Un-installed the game including saves and profiles.

Did a system restore back to prior to the game being installed.

Re-installed the game. Same issue.

Updated to the latest version of the video driver - same issue.

I have tried a couple of more times to uninstall and reinstall the game on both the standard hard
drive and the raid set but it fails in the same manner regardless. Any help would be appreciated
as I really like the game and am at a loss as to how to get it working again. Thanks in advance to
any and all who can help me resolve this issue.

Tried this. Same issue..:-( Tried this in xp sp2 and sp3 compatibility mode both before and after installing the dx10 runtime libraries suggested by triock. Still fails in the same manner, Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling after installing the runtimes and still no joy....


I finally got this issue resoved and wish to thank everyone for thir input. What finally resolved
it was:

Uninstalled the game.

Downloaded and installed the codec pack (cccp) suggested in the GOG general troubleshooting link.

Reinstalled the game.


On the first run the game still froze at the first cut scene after starting the first campaign. I
had pressed ESC to skip the cut scene and it froze. After ending task on the game in task manager I
restared the game and let the initial cut scenes run all the way through and the game started
normally from then on without compatibility mode. I can now escape out of the cut scenes and the
game does not lock up.
